Dr. Anna Rabinov, MD

The services that I received from Dr. Anna Rabinov were excellent. She really took her time to explain everything to me in a very clear manner. Knowledgeable, sensitive, informative… I immediately felt at ease – and felt confident in my receiving expert medical care. It’s rare to find a doctor that combines such personal touches and care for a patient I highly recommend her to anyone.

If I could turn back time I would have my baby in the hospital parking lot. My husband and I arrived at Kaiser San Francisco with me far into an intense, precipitous labor. My water broke and I began involuntarily pushing. Dr. Rabinov, the attending physician that night, advised me to stop pushing (HA!) and began a baseline fetal monitoring. She was uncomfortable with the unreassuring heart tones, my son's heart rate dropped after each contraction - but then always came back up! She noted a prior c-section in my chart, but NOT the successful unmedicated VBAC or a larger-than-average baby following that birth. After about 30min of monitoring, she and the team rushed in, gave me a shot of terbutaline to stop my labor even as I repeatedly told them "NO NO I don't want it", and rushed me to an operating room to either push the baby out immediately or be put to sleep for an emergency c-section. As someone who has had 3 babies and done plenty of homework on childbirth, I wasn't worried… about the baby's heart tones, he was recovering each time! He was likely distressed from the 2 hour labor I'd just experienced. The shot calmed my contractions and the baby recovered, so it was much ado about nothing and they wheeled me back into the labor and delivery room. Too bad my labor was ruined by the terbutaline. It never recovered, and I suffered from hours of full body shakes from the terbutaline, eventually getting so tired I conceded to an unwanted epidural to rest. She bullied me into that too, by repeatedly threatening to put me under if I didn't get one. Lo and behold my labor completely stalled and I timed out into another [MEDICALLY UNNECESSARY!!!] c-section for the completely nonsensical diagnosis of "failure to progress." As if that was a thing, and babies just never come out. Dr. Anna Rabinov "cured" me from the "disease" of natural childbirth with a c-section. Stay away from her unless you want to get cut.

This doctor is seriously lacking in empathy and bedside manner. She rushes through appointments, dismisses concerns and questions, and does very little to make you feel like a real person instead of just another face. She so clearly only cares about her paycheck, and has zero interest in building relationships with her patients.
