Dr. Anna Beth Shurter, MD

I saw Dr Shurter 3 times.The first visit went well, and I came in with medical tests highlighted (the abnormal results) and some articles, and had waited many months to see her. This visit went decently, and she seemed interested in my symptoms and had a plan for testing me for various things.On my second visit, it was very brief, and she had no interest in what I said or asked, and she was focusing only on one aspect of my care and dismissing the other symptoms, etc. At the end of the appointment, she agreed to work with a well known Endocrinologist in LA if I saw him, as I had issues ordering the tests with my insurance. So, I did. I paid an extravagant amount of money to see that doctor, as well as the trip to LA, etc, and when I returned, looking forward to speaking with her about the experience, she seemed to not remember our agreement, and dismissed me entirely, talked over me, and was miffed at my being upset about going back on her word of working with that doctor. She… refused to make contact with him at all, even though he had wanted further testing. In fact, she asked me very basic questions that she had asked on our first visit, had not looked at my chart or my complicated medical history, and was very condescending towards me. I came with questions which she answered "I don't know" too, and couldn't wait for me to leave. I left, after waiting months to see her, with no answers, no help, and because I told her that yes, I would like to see someone else for a second opinion, she sent me a letter letting me know I was not only 'discharged' from the Endo practice, but the entire medical practice and am basically barred from seeing any physician associated with that medical group. I am baffled. She also wrote an inaccurate description of what had happened in my medical file which added fuel to my fire. I plan on exposing the way she has dealt with me and wherever I can, as I had a most horrible experience.

Dr. Shurter is one of the most caring doctors I have dealt with. Medical care is more than just diagnosing and prescribing medication. She actually listens to my concerns and gets a much clearer picture of my comprehensive medical needs. I highly recommend her.

Waited 6 months to get in and driving From work in Alameda I allowed 1/2 hr, wasn't enough and I was 15 minutes late. According to the receptionist, they would not see me and offered another appointment 4 months out in February. When I told this to my sister who works for Kaiser as well as my own primary care doctor, they were very surprised (and not, as I guess the doctor must have heard some other history about that office). Not a good experience as well as parking being difficult. The receptionist said that "it was the doctor's call" to not take me.

Dr Shurter is very nice and has a great bedside mannner, Unfotunatly I had to cancel an appointment and could not get an appointment for almost 3 months. I have only been in 4 times and each appointment was a long wait 2-3 months.

She is very bright and caring. Dr. Shurter is great!!!

I've been in once. The front office girl was rude and continued to be rude when I called. They are way over scheduled. The assistants seemed nice, but the doctor herself was rude and unprepared. She refused to answer my questions because "[she was] late and needed to see other patients". She issued incorrect orders which caused a lot of hassle and personal/medical issues. She even tried to blame me for her being late because "[she] worked around [her] busy schedule to fit [me] in]. Even though i know I was just called last minute due to a cancellation and it was still days too late for what I needed her for. Someone with a serious medical problem who needs attention, should look elsewhere!

I was newly diagnosed with diabetes. Dr. Shurter explained everything to me and taught me to manage my condition. I would highly recommend her!

I scheduled morning appointments and she seems to always be late. Doctor never seem to answer my questions. Last straw, admin booked me with the wrong doctor for my ususal two month appointment, and they don't have anything open for two months, sorry I can't wait that long.......seeing new doctor
