Dr. Anna Butters Tanner, MD

I was a patient for many years of Dr. Tanner in the 2000s-2010s. As a young child, I don’t remember any issues; however, once I became a teenager, she often wanted my mother to leave the appointments and have one on one time with me which is highly inappropriate. This made me very uncomfortable as a patient, and now as a parent, I would never allow a doctor to be alone with my minor child. Eventually, she took on the role of sales lady for the HPV shot to which I am so greatful my mom refused despite unwarranted pressure. The last memory I have of her is once again denying the HPV shot and telling her I was waiting until marriage so it would not be a concern for me. She refuted this. She had also made comments such as “just because I hadn’t held a boys hand doesn’t mean I haven’t kissed a boy.” The sexualization of minors is a huge red flag. I would love to tell her that I did wait until marriage and it was very inappropriate for her to talk to me the way she did. I was a child.… Now that I am a parent, I would not want my child seen by a doctor with this attitude towards children.

I was treated by Dr. Tanner at Veritas collaborative. She is by far the worst and most rude doctors that I have ever had. I was struggling with binge eating disorder, but while in her care she refused to understand that and instead was treating me for a different eating disorder, telling me that I was starving myself even though in reality I had gained a significant amount of weight and was over eating by far. Her treatment and words said to me actually made my mental health worse as well as my eating disorder. I wanted treatment and help, but all I got was a terrible experience and an eating disorder that was worse than when I went there.

Thank goodness I found Dr. Tanner seven years ago. She really cares about the growth and development of my two daughters 17 and 13, and my son who is 15. She is the greatest when it comes to questions you may have, and never rushes you out the door like I've experienced with other Doctors. My children also appreciate the separate waiting room away from the little ones. I recently took my son and younger daughter for their yearly exams. I had taken the last two appointments for the day, but that didn't matter, she took her time with both of them and took time to talk to me also. She is also very thorough, and you can be assured that your children will be examined head to toe. Thank you Thank you Dr. Tanner

The office staff of Gwinnett Pediatrics is always very accommodating and friendly whether on the phone or in person. We always try to see Dr. Tanner as she has taken care of my daughter since she was born. 9 years and 4 children later, we are still requesting to see her. She is very knowledgeable in her practice and always puts my children at ease.

My daughter has seen Dr. Tanner since she was very young. My daughter has special needs and actually doesn't mind coming to see Dr. Tanner. She has a lot of anxiety about doctors offices and Dr. Tanner comes in the room with a big smile and asking what's new with her. Not only do I get my questions answered but she answers all of my daughters. When it comes to diagnosing and referrals, we always receive the best of care. Would I recommend Dr. Tanner, you bet I would. My only concern is that my daughter will age out soon and we can't stay with Dr. Tanner.

I have 3 girls and we have seen Dr Tanner for 9 year now. With 3 children you get just about every problem there is. She is kind, accurate, blunt, honest, and encouraging. Anytime we have had an issue she has referred me to excellent people who have helped eliminate the issue or prove that the child is truly just on the board of something but 100% healthy. She has gone the extra mile in every case to be sure the child is taken care of. She is also willing to tell me things I have or did not want to see in my own child. She is always encouraging to the child and wants them to be the best and see themselves as able to succeed. My girls never complain about going to see the doctor as long as it is Dr Tanner!

Dr. Tanner is knowledgeable and aware of current young women's issues. I wouldn't have my girls see anyone else!

We have seen Dr. Tanner for 11 years now. She is a very devoted physician. She spends so much face to face time with her patients which is so rare nowadays. She is very thorough and detail oriented. My boys absolutely adore her and we completely trust her decisions which she makes us a part of. We highly recommend Dr. Tanner.

Dr. Tanner is awesome. My boys love her, she makes them feel comfortable at every visit, she also explains everything to me and relates as parent not only a doctor. She does not rush through the visit and we always leave satisfied.

Dr. Anna Tanner is so so bad. She is unprofessional, and condescending. She does not do what's best for the patient. She only wants to be "right." I have serious concerns about her qualifications to practice medicine on children & teens! Please, do not take your child to see her!
