Dr. Anne Gershkowitz, DDS

I had an implant placed by Dr Anne. Was thinking of one day implant but then based on my personal medical condition doctor advised to do everything right to avoid complications. Though the process took some time to complete all went well. I am happy I've chosen the longer way. I am surprised how dental implants can make your life so much easier. I'm smiling and can eat without old problems... I know this tooth will not give me the root canal ;) Thinking of placing more implants on the other side later and will definitely do it in Sola Dental Spa!

I’m afraid of the dentists since childhood. Every dentists visit was quite a challenge for me. I used to come to the other dental office because of my mom who’s old fashioned and devoted to a dentist she became friends with very long ago. After I started to pay for the dentist’s visits by myself I decided to look for the other dental office. I live in NJ close to Staten Island and checked the offices near me first. Well … it appeared to be not that easy to find the place where you can feel comfortable and at ease while you have that dentists fear. And because of that fear I counted minutes and seconds until the end of my every visit. Then I decided to search further and on my Staten Island friend’s recommendation came to Sola Dental Spa. Since that time the page of my life where the dentists visits were a horror was left in the past. Dr Anne is extremely attentive, before doing anything she explains the plan and which steps I will go through. If there is something that bothers me we… discuss it and she pays more attention to it. The staff is also amazing! I started of the cleanings, then the fillings and other things most people go through. And recently Dr Anne placed beautiful veneers. And it made me so happy! I picked the shape, length, color and got the smile I wanted! In over 8 years I learned to trust Dr Anne Gershkowitz and want to say thank you! I can’t make people to feel and do the same. I think everyone needs to find their own dentist they can feel at ease with. But I definitely recommend to try this place if you are looking for a painless dentist like I was some time ago.

My 18 year old son had dental check up including X-rays done with an other dentist around a year ago. His teeth were in perfect health with no cavities. Due to availability issues my son was not able to go to his regular dentist and scheduled appointment for check up and cleaning with dr. Garshkowitz. While examining his teeth she informed us that he had few cavities. When she drilled in to one of them, she said it was too big and my son’s tooth needs a root canal. Both my son and I were shocked since his tooth had no pain, no discoloration, no sensitivity to hot or cold; my son was not even aware of existence of cavity. Unfortunately it was too late as dr. Gershkowitz drilled all the way to the nerve and now he had no choice. She sent my son to endodontist for root canal and told him to come back to do the crown. Also dr Garshkowitz notified us that there was an other molar tooth that might need a root canal, which she’ll take care of after the crown. Nether endodontist that preformed… root canal or an other dentist, who we went for the crown(we didn’t trust dr. Garshkowitz anymore) had seen a need for root canal being done in the first place according to original X-rays or absence of symptoms for it. Also nether of them had seen a need of an other root canal on an other molar that dr. Garshkowitz warned us about, in fact they didn’t even see presence of any cavity in that tooth whatsoever. Not only I have high expenses for doing all the dental work that we were forced to do, but more importantly my 18 year old son’s tooth was destroyed. Luckily one of them and not two as dr. Garshkowitz predicted.

Awesome service

I used Dr Gershkowitz for many years. Never had to doubt her expertise and professionalism. I'm very picky and very doubtful consumer and I shopped around before ending up at her office. She showed me what other dentists "missed", yet stayed professional and respectful about their work. She didn't have to because I had problems after others. Still she didn't bragged. What a person! Her word is final. She will never waist her time or your money on problems that are not urgent. She's extremely caring and painless. Her staff shares her philosophy. They all there for your comfort and your dental health needs. I don't know about emergencies, never had one. But her office runs by appointment only and I respect it. I It is always on time.

Generally, everyone at this office is very nice. However, when it came time to fix teeth, the doctor spent maybe 5-10 minutes actually doing any work, with most of the time spent waiting for her. Generally, I would say a fast dentist is a good thing, but in this case, every appointment felt rushed, like she was running between patients. Moreover, in reference to fixing teeth, I had come to the office specifically to fix one particular tooth, with all others to be fixed after as needed. Instead, she did cavities that did not bother me at all, and any time I would address my concerns they were dismissed or put off for next time. Inevitably next time never happened, and 2 years later that same tooth has not been fixed and another one that she sent me for a root canal for (which I did) is not completely fixed (she was supposed to do a filling and cap). I got tired of waiting for the staff to get back to me about actually getting these teeth done, so I stopped going. I would… definitely not recommend this dentist. She does well in presentation and creating a nice environment, but when it comes to actually addressing a patient's concerns, the service is extremely lacking.
