Dr. Goldfeld is a remarkable physician and scientist whose work is an has transformed how TB and HIV care is given in poor countries. Her groundbreaking treatment programs and centers for TB and HIV patients, especially in Cambodia and Ethiopia, have provided world-class care for patients in parts of the world that are often forgotten, and she has personally cared for thousands of patients in these countries with the same attentiveness, clinical acumen, and dedication that she gave to patients in the US when she practiced here. Although her work in the US is dedicated to research and she sees patients only overseas (since about 2004), her clinical expertise has remained a shining beacon for her patients as well as a source of inspiration to young physicians.

Professor Goldfeld, Dr. Goldfeld, is a model physician. Her compassion transcends borders. She cares for the most destitute patients with tuberculosis, multi-drug resistant tuberculosis, and HIV in Cambodia and Ethiopia. More so, she has marshaled resources to find innovative ways to care for the most destitute children and adults . She has focused on the entire person and their dignity. Some of the programs that were her brainchild have focused well beyond their purely medical needs. Whether it is education, physical activity, even learning riding, gardening and other activities, she takes a holistic view of caring for peoples overall health.

Dr Goldfeld is truly an inspiration to many physicians in Massachusetts and a world leader in TB and HIV - and her efforts and care have saved the lives of huge numbers ot patients who would have otherwise died without proper care overseas. She is extremely attentive to patient's needs, has a wonderful and compassionate bedside manner and is a staunch advocate for patients - no need is too small to be ignored. She takes care of the person and also views the family and the community as a whole. Dr Goldfeld is truly a leader in her field!
