Dr. Anne Maitland, MD

The playing field has changed with new rules which Dr. Maitland failed to tell her patients. She has shifted her focus to a selected group now with Covid. Good for those who she cares about, but majority of her existing patients suffer. Over the past 6 months, she has missed every one of my appointments. The telemedicine ones … no one calls to cancel the appointment as hours go by….phone call to her operator kindly answered but little help. Her PA is more knowledgeable than she is on health issues. However, he cannot do anything without her approval…which means a prescription can take upwards to a month to finally get called in. The doc should stop making excuses and just suspend her practice until she has figured out how to manage her current office patients with her new responsibilities at the hospital and with COvid. She needs to freely and responsibly tell her patients she is referring their cases to another doctor picking up her office work until she gets a better handle… on her time management or chooses what she wants to on.

Most disorganized office that I've ever been too. The office is mismanaged and it is micro-managed by the doctor. Maybe that's why she can't keep any staff. I won't waste time talking about all of the appointment errors, medication mix ups and diagnosis confusion. It's too bad because she's is a very smart doctor.

The office originally lost my paperwork in 2017 after being referred by doctor Henderson. He insisted I try again so I did. Today was my appointment (45 min phone consult) and I spoke to Walter for the first time (and today will be the last) when he called to collect payment. I suggest avoiding him at all costs. He accused me of lying about the office losing my original application in 2017 & told me he had no way of verifying if they lost my paperwork from 2017 (even though he was looking at my application from 2017). When I told him I wasn’t told it would be $1,150 ($850 + $250 to have Dr. Maitland to review my records) for the 45 min phone consult, he rudely told me I signed a contract with the new prices. I politely asked him to look through my file & confirmed I hadn’t signed an agreement for the new prices & the contract I signed said the 45 min call would be $650 plus $150 to have Dr. Maitland review my records. Then he rudely told me I should have filled out a new… application. When we called 3 months ago to explain that they had an older application from 2017, we explained that I have new diagnoses since I filled that out and asked if I should fill out a new one and was told it wasn’t necessary and they would contact me if they needed anything else. I never got another call until literally an hour before my appointment today requesting payment. Walter repeatedly kept telling me my application was outdated after I explained that. I asked why it says $150 on the site to review medical records and he told me it doesn’t say that. It does. I was looking at it while I was on the phone with him. He then called to tell me he reversed the charges today & I thanked him and asked what the new charge would be and he said he didn’t know and proceeded to hang up on me without saying anything (not even a goodbye) and without any further explanation. Twenty minutes later I got an email stating he charged my debit card $800 without getting back to me about what the updated charge would be & without my permission. When I called back around 5:30 to explain I wasn’t satisfied that he hung up on me then proceeded to charge my card again, he told me he hit another extension and didn’t realize he hung up on me (yet never called me back) and charged my card $800 without thinking to call and tell me because they were so busy and he assumed it was ok because it was on my original contract from 2017. He then went on to explain how a busy in-demand doctors office works, as if I don’t know (I have a team of in demand specialists and none of the office staff treats me like this). He then went on to tell me that the reason my file was lost 2 years ago was because someone misspelled my name in the computer & due to the misspelling/clerical error, they were never able to locate my name in the computer to make an appointment. He told me it wasn’t done on purpose but refused to acknowledge that mistake caused me to miss out on an appointment with Dr. M for an additional two years. He then went on to tell me how they couldn’t keep any staff there which is why Dr. Maitland asked him to come work for him. He told me he is a friend of hers and was an accountant prior. Throughout the entire debacle, I was not able to finish one complete sentence without him cutting me off, every single time. My original appointment yesterday at 1, it got changed to today at 1. At noon today it got changed to 3. It’s now 4:20 and I haven’t spoke to anyone since 2:55. When I told Walter I now didn’t feel comfortable paying the $800 for the appointment without talking to Dr. Maitland first to explain having to wait 2 years because of a clerical error and the fiasco of the last 48 hours his response was “Ooooooh ok. So it’s all about money. You just don’t want to pay what it costs to talk to Dr. Maitland.” For the record, almost all of my specialists are cash only and I work very hard to be able to pay for my care upfront. I’ve never not payed a bill or argued about one, not once. I’m severely ill and have no choice but to work full time to support myself & pay for specialists because I live alone without family or friends around. So that comment really hit a nerve. That’s when I got completely lost it & was so fed up and told him about the reviews I had read about him online. He went on to tell me about the person who wrote that review and why they were wrong. I told him that I’d be writing a review so others didn’t have to go through the same 2 year headache I did and his response was “oh I BET you will”. Just a nasty person who should not in any way shape or form be dealing with or talking to the chronically ill. Why would you treat chronically ill patients this way who wait years to get an appointment? If this is tolerated by the managers and Dr. Maitland, I can’t see how this would be a safe place for me to be as a patient. I’m sure Dr. Maitland is amazing at what she does & I've only heard great things about her. I was very much looking forward to my appointment that I had spent a long time preparing for. I did ask Walter to have Dr. Maitland call me so I could explain why I was so upset (enough to cancel an appointment I waited so long for) instead of arguing with Walter but I doubt he even told her & if he did he probably didn’t tell her anywhere close to the truth about what really happened today. What a shame that ppl that actually need care are missing out due to Walter.

I have been under the care of several allergists for the past 33 years. Dr. Maitland is by far and away the most thorough and caring doctor. She is above par in diagnostics and plays an active role in the care of her patients.

Dr. Maitland is a very smart and excellent doctor. She listens well, explains things in understandable terms and is willing to go the extra mile to be sure her patients will be well.

Diagnosed primary immunodeficiency, then Helped me get subquetanious igg treatments; therefore likely saving my life. After getting treatments, however, she declare me "fixed" from her perspective and denied me any support with disability, even though the 20 years of disease has caused tremendous complications and lifelong issues, multiple auto immune diseases and more. Waits are very long for appts, with many cancellations and expect to wait hours when you arrive. This i can tolerate- i cant tolerate dismissing a patient or misdiagnosis. Without her support, i may not get disability, which I desperately need to survive and support myself as i am jo longer able to work. This isn't a case of me being wrong- its a case of her refusing to listen. All my other doctors can easily see i am too ill to hold a job.

Dr. Maitland is a wonderful doctor. Unfortunately her practice is completely disorganized and ruins the whole experience. If you have weekly visits for allergy shots expect long waits, loss of medication and overall ineptitude that ruins the entire experience. It is unclear why she is unable to find staff that can run a user friendly practice

I have had this doc intermittently for two years and she pinpointed my issues in one sitting while other doctors still have not found the cause of my illnesses in years. She stays with you for as long as you need her and calls even after hours to check up on you. Best to call for appointment than email. She used to be at Mt Sinai before moving to Tarrytown.

I have suffered from asthma and acid reflux for the past two years. I saw two other doctors before I moved to NY recently and saw Dr. Maitland. My previous doctors did not listen to me properly and therefore diagnosed me incorrectly for TWO YEARS. Dr. Maitland listed to me and really thought about my medical issues. She gave me excellent advice and clearly explained why she was going to change my medications. I am already starting to feel better and I only saw her 3 days ago! I could not ask for a better doctor. She is exceptional.
