Dr. Anne Magdalen Pawlak, DO

Dr. Pawlak is an amazing, caring and extremely knowledgeable Physician. I cant say enough about her. I highly recommend her.

She was not only extremely knowledgeable about MS she also cares about you and will talk to you about and explain everything.

When I first began to see Dr. Pawlak, I heard good things about her. However, my experience did not reflect the positives that were told to me by other practitioners. At first impression when I met her in the ER Dr. Pawlak seemed really caring. I then began to see her in her clinic. Upon seeing her in her clinic, she was unsure of my diagnoses and recommended that I have a second opinion at University of Michigan. I agreed with her suggestion, she told me that her office would be in contact with me for appt. information. I waited about a week, then gave her office a phone call. Over the next 3 weeks I called several times leaving messages with the staff. One staff member told me that she did not see anything in my notes pertaining to a referral for a second opinion. Ultimately, I had a relapse of symptoms and had to go back into the hospital. Once in the hospital Dr. Pawlak came in to see me with her team of staff. She never apologized for dropping the ball with me. instead she made… it seem as if I had not stayed in contact with her office as I was supposed to. When I returned home I went back for a second in-office visit with Dr. Pawlak. During the visit there was a medication that she wanted to place me on , but I had concerns about it, being that it had some really dangerous side effects that could occur. She gave me no reassurance during this visit about the medication. Her approach was more so of the use of trying to use "scare tactics" to get me to take this very dangerous drug. She even told me, "There is no prayer that's going to get you out of this. If you do not take this medication I will guarantee you that you will be in a wheelchair by the end of this year." This visit was the last time I saw her due to her lack of good bedside manner. I am happy to say that I did not take that medication and I am not paralyzed as she stated that I would be by the end of 2018.

Dr. Pawlak is very passionate for neurological medicine. She finds the source of the problem and fixes it. She is kind and very compassionate and loves her patients. She has been my doctor since I was 9 years old suffering from unexplained epilepsy. I have been without seizures for 20 years.

I've been a patient of Dr. Pawlik-Simpsons for over 15 years for TGN (trigeminal neuralgia). She's very concerned with her patients care, education about their disease/disorder and her Garden City location hosts her medical students who are always up on the latest research and studies fresh out of med school ready to try and help; although she always supervises my visits. It can be a bit of a wait for an appointment and she's chronically running late, but I wait because although we haven't always agreed about my treatment she never fails to give me all the info, her opinion (including alternate options) and respects my decisions even if they don't align with hers. Just plan on calling a month or two before your desired appointment to get in and don't expect her to be in the room at your appointed time (she'll never rush through your appointment even when really behind). And she works with my insurance even when I've had providers she doesn't except and cut my payments when I was out… of work. She really is a doctor who wants to help you live better. If you're looking for a neurologist I'd recommend that you give her a try, just expect to wait!
