I wouldn't know how to compare Dr. Macannuco to other physicians in her specialty, because I never dealt with another pain specialist before. However, scheduling is lacking; the wait was longer than one hour.

Dr. Macannuco is wonderful. She helped my mother with pain issues for years before her death, and was a constant advisor to my mom and family during her final illness. I have since consulted with her on my own pain issues and found her to be thorough and knowledgeable. She listens carefully and asks appropriate questions to determine a diagnosis. I feel very glad to have her as a physician.

Love Dr. Macannuco.. She's sympathetic, friendly and most of all, a concerned excellent doctor.

I was extremely pleased with Dr. Mac when I first saw her some years ago.She was my first pain management Dr. She went above and beyond what she needed to do to help find out what was causing my pain. Her office moved without my receipt of notification of the change. I found out about the move when I received a phone call to confirm my apt. Having the inability to drive I had to cancel and therefore find a new Pain management Dr. closer to the proximity of my drivers comfort level. Later I found Dr. Mac was also in MidState Hospital which was an area my driver would go. I was thrilled and called to make an apt. with her at that facility. I was refused because I had transferred my files to another Dr.when she moved her office. In the interim, I've tried on several other occasions to become her patient again. I either got no response through the years or, again, a no for a response. I was recently told I needed a procedure and still had such a level of trust in Dr. Mac that I called… to see if she would perform the procedure and continue as my Dr. thereafter. My name is still in the system, which baffles me 8-9 yrs later, and I felt confident in speaking with the girl scheduling the apt. that I would be fine.Today, I was denied again by Dr. Mac to return as her patient. I have nothing negative to say about Dr. Mac as a physician or I'd not have tried so hard to see her again but.....I do feel that I was not offered the option to return under the care of someone I had complete confidence in from the beginning of my Pain Management treatment. No contract was broken while I was under her care. It saddens me that a physician would find it so easy to dispose of a patient originally in her care. It's been explained on more than one occasion why I was unable, at the time, to see her in her new office and the transfer was not made out of disappointment in her. So, for those of you that may be lucky enough to start off with Dr. Mac as a "new" patient, stick it out and do what you can to get yourself where you need to be to ensure you can continue to see her in the future.

I have been a patient of "Dr. Mac's" for a long time now. She is wonderful. However, the time constraints the insurance companies and the practice puts on her do affect the level of care she gives the last couple of years. The fact that I do not trust anyone else to stick needles in my back, nor would any other doc truly care so much about me as a person is why I stay. She is brilliant, thinks outside the box and I feel truly special to have her as my doctor. Time constraints or not, I'd never think about changing doctors! Dr. Mac, you are stuck with me!!

First I will vent about some experiences with other doc(s) in order to tell why, in my experience, "Dr. Mac" is GREAT and why I consider her an ANGEL. Granted, orthopedic specialists (I see two) are surgeons and they don't really want to see much of you or prescribe meds once you are done with a few post-op visits. I don't want THEM to prescribe meds for a prolonged period anyway, b/c they don't know my history well enough, and I certainly don't expect my PCP to juggle my pain and related issues. In my experience, with an overbooking orthopedic surgeon / specialist, a lot of contact is with a PA (which in theory is fine, esp if he/she is competent and you trust them). But you may find yourself dealing with an "Executive Medical Assistant" (a job that does not require a State license) who likes to "play doctor" on the phone. I suppose that's a nice way of saying "practicing medicine without a license." BAD BAD BAD. I am calling them out on it, but who knows if they will ever do… anything about it. NOW, I will comment on Dr. AKM-W. OK, so her practice may overbook and you have to wait at least 30 minutes before you get to see her. But let me tell you, she TAKES THE TIME TO REALLY CARE FOR AND ABOUT YOU. She listens, she tells you what's going on. There once almost was a mishap (not involving her) and she APOLOGIZED to me for it. Dr. Mac has been MORE ASTUTE AND ACCURATE IN DIAGNOSING and suggesting, she has been of far greater help to me over the past fifteen months of what is now a nearly three year chronic pain ordeal than anyone else has been. Dr. Mac is a professional and a truly caring person. I trust her 100%, and recommend her highly. The nursing / aide staff is competent and caring, and one of the PA's (the female one) was once a physiatrist (I think that's the word) who knows how to perform manoeuvers that effectively relieve joint pain (ex: sacroiliac mobilization).

The care is good but the over schedule and constantly run behind. The last 2 visit we were not seen until 90 minutes after our appointment time.
