Annie Laurie Benzie, MD

Annie Laurie Benzie, M.D. D.A.B.S, F.A.C.S, is a fellowship-trained, board-certified general surgeon who has been part of the Hackensack Meridian Medical Group team since 2021. Dr. Benzie specializes in Complex Gastrointestinal Surgery and is an expert in minimally invasive robotic surgery. This approach allows for enhanced precision and control during complex procedures, offering patients significant benefits such as smaller incisions, less pain, and a faster recovery. 

Her clinical interests include foregut disorders such as GERD, hiatal hernias, and achalasia. She is the founder of the JFK University Medical Center Reflux and Motility Program, which provides a comprehensive diagnostic and treatment plan for patients with these medical conditions. She also offers the full breadth of general surgical procedures, including hernia repair, cholecystectomy and mass excision.
