Summary

I am originally from Lafayette, Indiana. I have lived in Melbourne, FL since 1980. I went to high school at Melbourne Central Catholic (Class of 1985). I spent 2 years at Florida Tech and then completed my undergraduate studies at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, where I graduated cum laude. I went to medical school at the University of Miami under the Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program. I did my internship and first year of Internal Medicine residency at the Naval Medical Center in Oakland, CA, then finished my last year of residency at the University of California, San Francisco. I did my Infectious Disease fellowship at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA.

The Navy decided to ship me back to the east coast. I attended the Military Tropical Medicine Course and then spent three years on staff at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, where I was head of the HIV Clinical Research Program. I held a faculty position at the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine and was an attending physician at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. I received training in the medical management of chemical and biological casualites at Ft. Detrick, MD. I was also the Division Head for Infectious Diseases on the USNS Comfort hospital ship.

I completed my commitment to the Navy in 2001, moved back to Melbourne, and joined MIMA. Currently I am the Medical Director for Infection Control for the three HealthFirst hospitals and a member of the MIMA Board of Directors. I am a fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, American Medical Association, American Society for Microbiology, Florida Infectious Diseases Society, HIV Medicine Association, Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America, Association for Professionals in Infection Control, and International Society of Travel Medicine.

My practice deals with all aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of adult infectious diseases. MIMA has an infusion center for outpatient intravenous antibiotic therapy. I have a special interest in Travel Medicine, where I advise patients prior to overseas travel on which vaccinations they need, provide malaria prophylaxis, and give country-specific recommendations regarding health issues. Our Travel Clinic is an approved Yellow Fever vaccination center. I have been recognized by the International Society of Travel Medicine, with a Certificate in Travel Health for individual excellence in knowledge in the field of travel medicine, pre-travel care and consulation.

Outside of the practice of medicine I enjoy boating, fishing, playing guitar, and spending time with my wife and two daughters.

Ensuring Data Transparency and Trust: A Guide to Vitals Doctor Listings and Reviews

Our provider data is gathered directly from physicians and publicly available databases. Providers who verify their profiles gain the ability to update information, offering additional details about their specialties, education, treated conditions, performed procedures, and accepted insurances.

Reviews on Vitals are submitted by users only. Recognizing the valuable insights these reviews offer into a doctor's reputation, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Importantly, providers cannot delete or alter reviews independently. Reviews can only be deleted or changed following an internal assessment by our customer service team.

Your feedback is highly valued and we encourage you to contact our support team should you encounter any issues.
