Dr. Anthony Ivar Colorito

The worst care and most callous doctor I have ever had the misfortune to treat me.

Way too much attitude and less time spent explaining procedure. Poor bedside manner.

Miss him...one of the kindest Docs around.

My surgery ended up being complicated. I still cannot walk almost a year post surgery and he sure does not seem to give a darned that I can't. His tech or M.A. NEVER returns calls and when I see her face to face she acts as though we are best buddies. Just as someone else mentioned he has asked me what I did to screw myself up. He is allegedly joking but it doesn't come across as such. He does surgery and washes his hands of you as does his "team"... No more for me!

I fractured my radial head (elbow) and first went to a Zoom Care. Despite their reputation, the nurse was attentive and courteous and very concerned with my condition. She felt I needed surgery immediately. She called me repeatedly over the next 24 hours, urging me to see an orthopedist, so I picked Dr. Colorito. During my visit with the Dr. he was arrogant and I don't believe he ever looked at the ZoomCare x-ray. Instead he sent me home and told me to take my cast off once in awhile and let my arm hang, it would heal itself. After only a few days I knew something was not right and insisted on a visit, they finally took an x-ray and looked at it (though I NEVER saw any x-rays during my entire treatment!). My radial head was fractured in 3 places and had drifted down my arm! Dr. Colorito performed a radial head repair (we hand anticipated a radial head replacement). During subsequent follow up visits the Dr. insisted things were going well. At my final visit however he told me… that the union was unsuccessful and I would need another surgery, but he would not perform it. Thankfully, I had moved to Colorado and was able to be seen by Dr. Randy Viola at the Steadman Clinic (he's a rockstar!). Dr. Viola was appalled at the state of my elbow, which now included a damaged ligament. I was able to still avoid the radial head replacement by doing a bone graft from my tibia. I have just had my hardware removed after a successful union. In the spirit of healing, I have tried to put the negativity of this experience behind me and the life long effects that it will have. But now I feel that the LEAST I can do is warn others from falling in to the uncaring and untalented hands of Dr. Colorito.

RESULTS OF MY FIRST ACL SURGERY BY THIS "DOCTOR" REQUIRED MANY MORE SURGERIES BY OTHER DOCTORS TO CORRECT. WAS ACTUALLY LATE FOR MY SURGERY, WHICH WAS SCHEDULED FIRST THING IN THE MORNING.

I would ref. any friend to Dr. Colorito for knee or shoulder surg. He was knowledgeable and did a great job with my surgery. My shoulder is now on the mend and as of 4 wks out feeling better then it has in months.

I broke my fibula at age 17 while playing soccer. The bone was completely severed in half, and displaced. This genius doctor didn't reset the bone or put me in a cast, but instead put me in a walking boot for a couple of weeks, which I was able to remove nightly. He said that the bone would take care of itself, but that it didn't really matter since the fibula isn't the main weight bearing bone in the leg. At the end of my "treatment" he took an x-ray that I never got to see, and released me from care. Over the years, I continued to have issues with my leg, such as random sharp pain, soreness, popping as I walk down stairs, etc. I could no longer play sports, exercise, maintain an active lifestyle, or even walk my dogs without often limping. I had never broken a bone before, so I believed this to be the way things are for people who break a leg. Recently, after 9 years of my much changed lifestyle, I started going to a chiropractor after suffering a year and a half of chronic… neck pain. I happened to tell him on day about my former injury, lack of care, and symptoms, and out of curiosity, he x-rayed my leg for me. Sure enough, there it was... A large, unhealed crack in my fibula. The bone was still partially displaced, and the gap between the two parts of my bone NEVER healed. My tibia even looked bowed, possibly as a result of carrying too much weight without the support of a functioning fibula. My chiropractor said that having to compensate for this injury could have potentially been putting my whole body out of alignment, which would explain my back and neck pain. Needless to say, I have now been to an orthopedic surgeon who informs me that this will have to be fixed. They will need to cut a large incision, scrape out all of the scare tissue, fill the gap in my bone with cadaver bone, and then hold it all together with plates and screws. It will be extremely painful and require that I take a month off work, I won't be able to walk or drive for at least 6 weeks, and the recovery will take months. This ALL could have been prevented if Dr. Colorito had done his job and properly treated my injury. At the very least, he should NEVER have released me from care until the bone was healed. That way I wouldn't have had to live the past nine years in a limited fashion, and go through this consequential pain and suffering. I HIGHLY encourage you to seek medical care from someone else.

I researched Orthopedic Surgeons for my rotator cuff injury and I chose Dr. Colorito. I wanted someone who understood sports injuries, and who had great training and experience. I wanted my shoulder to be repaired, and if I was going to let someone do surgery on me I wanted that to be the right person. When I met with Dr. Colorito, I knew I found the right person. He is confident, went to the right college and got the best training (has an impressive fellowship), has a sports background (He played football for USC, and the Denver Broncos), and so I trusted him to do the best treatment for me. Dr. Colorito performed my surgery, and at my first post-operation appointment he got me started on physical therapy even though I did not want to. I used the physical therapist he recommended, and I followed the treatment plan. It has been many years since that surgery, and I am still very happy with Dr. Colorito, the treatment I received, and my results. I still have 100% range of motion and full… function of my left shoulder. Dr. Colorito is a â??Body Mechanic and Artistâ??. He is confident in his abilities and you can trust him. For a well-rounded treatment, he put together a team of professionals to help nurture you get back to health. If you look at the whole picture you will find someone who is not only gifted in what he does, but someone who cares about you, your health and recovery. I am so glad that I chose Dr. Anthony Colorito for my surgery, and I recommend him without reservation.

Dr Colorito was the doctor on call when I presented to the hospital with a fracture. He was unpleasant that first night I met him, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt that this was an unplanned surgery at the end of a long day. Though out my follow up appointments and subsequent hardware removal, he was condescending and wasn't interested in hearing my concerns. I almost cancelled my hardware removal surgery the day before it was scheduled because he was NOT interested in discussing anything with me. Fortunately, the anesthesiologist who would be working with Dr Colorito called me later that night and he was willing to listen to my concerns and create an individualized plan for my surgery. My last follow up appointment, Dr Colorito was irritated with the height of the stool in the exam room and literally tossed it out into the hallway. If that hadn't been my last scheduled appointment, it most definitely would have been the last appointment I saw him. Based on technical skill,… Dr Colorito is a great surgeon, but he needs to improve his bedside manner and be courteous to his patients.
