Dr. Anthony K. Frempong-Boadu, MD

I’m not one to write reviews, especially angry ones, because more often than not those types of reviews are motivated by unfounded hate from unreasonable individuals. But I write this today because this is not that. I want to share my family’s story because I would hate for any other person or family to go through what my family experienced with my late father and Dr. Anthony Frempong. I never want anyone to feel the pain, grief, and abandonment we felt by this professional who we put all our trust in. My father was a patient of Dr. Frempong. He spoke with him over the phone prior to meeting him in person, and without meeting my father first, he proposed quite an extensive and excessive back surgery that was too much for my father. Everything on the Langone website about working with the patient pre and post op to find the right kind of care is something that my father and my family never experienced from Dr. Frempong. My father ended up with unmanageable, excruciating pain and a… staph infection that attached itself to the hardware Dr. Frempong installed. My father didn’t make it through the recovery. Throughout the entire time in rehab Dr. Frempong never followed up with my father. He NEVER gave him a call to him or his doctor’s and he has yet to call my family about our loss. My mother and I are deeply hurt by the lack of hospitable care exhibited by Dr. Frempong and his colleagues. The person we put all our trust in, never lifted a finger to give us a call or to help my father in the moments he was at his lowest. Instead he hid behind a “policy” of not contacting patients. I truly hope for any families or persons out there that are considering this doctor, that they take a moment to ask themselves, if the worst scenario happens and Dr. Frempong is not there for me or my loved one, will that be okay? If the answer is no, then please heed this warning. If the answer is yes, then go ahead. For simple surgeries, it sounds like he’s fine. If you have a more complex one and need more from your doctor, all you’ll ever get more of is hardware from Dr. Frempong. Again, I never want anyone to experience what my family went through and that’s why I am taking the time to write this. All other medical professionals I have spoken to since about this have been surprised he ceased communication with us and with my father’s other doctors. I hope your loved ones or you don’t feel abandoned by this medical professional in their/your final moments of life.

My name is Denise and I have had a horrible experience with Dr. Anthony Frempong-Boadu. I had surgery two and a half years ago and a revision surgery two years ago. I have never felt so horrible in my life. I had spondolothyesis Grade 3. I now have a numb left foot and calf. I cannot walk any length of time and the sleep time is the worst. I don't know what went wrong when he did my decompression but I can tell you that I'm suffering more now than ever before.

Dr. Frempong-Boadu made me the happiest patient in the world. He took a conservative approach to my condition, cervical stenosis, and instead of a surgical solution, he recommended watching me every six months and physical therapy. I am so grateful.

I fully trust Dr Frempong’s judgment and advise. He has gain my trust through the genuine concern he shows for my wellbeing as a person and a patient.

Words cannot describe how grateful I am for entrusting my back surgery to Dr. Frempong. Not only is he a very, but his team at NYU Langone were simply outstanding. Dr. Frempong is competent, caring, diligent and humble, down to earth “superstar-neurosurgeon” with a great attitude and professionalism. He noted he wouldn’t necessarily recommend a surgery until he reviewed the results of new MRI and only then he concluded (Microdiscectomy) surgery is the best solution to my condition. I could not imagine having my surgery with anyone else and I highly recommend him for anyone considering back surgery options.

I honestly don't think I have enough words to say what a positive experience I had with Dr. Frempong and his staff. He is the only doctor that was able to recommend a cutting edge technique that has completely fixed my back. All other doctors wanted to do a spinal fusion but Dr. Frempong had studied, evaluated and performed a newer technique that is allowing me to be completely pain free while resuming an active life. His staff is equally as good and my entire experience from evaluation, to surgery, to follow-up has been outstanding.

Excellent in the field, compassion for the patient in every aspect taking everything into consideration.

Great Doctor. Personable and makes sure the patient thoroughly understands procedures, options, etc. staff is equally personable and responsive. Highly recommend Dr. Frempong and his team.

BEWARE! I am an 81 year old woman who had two spinal operations performed by Dr. Frempong. The first one failed and the second one has left me in unrelenting excruciating pain. Dr. Frempong's only solution is a third operation under general anesthesia ---all within one year. Cut and cut and cut again.
