Dr. Anthony Allen Goodman, MD

When I was a 4th year medical student at Harvard, Tony was the senior resident on the Harvard Surgical Service at Boston City Hospital where I did my general surgery clerkship. He was absolutely fantastic: a talented and ethical surgeon who loved teaching. I did not wind up becoming a surgeon, but if anyone was going to convince me to do so, it was Tony. I lost track of him when I graduated, but recently came across his name and work when looking through a list of courses offered by The Great Courses (previously known as the Teaching Company). How great to learn that he is still active and teaching!

My introduction to Dr. Goodman is through the Great Courses. I am watching his lecture of 20 years ago on the anatomy and physiology of the human body. The man is a fascinating lecturer. I can't begin to absorb all the information, but I gratefully accept the nuggets I retain. If I had studied under Dr. Goodman, I may have amounted to something, no matter what he was teaching. If I were in need of his skills, I would feel that my chances were the best that I could expect. A real contributor to society.

I have been watching Dr. Goodman's Great Courses package. It is titled: Understanding the Human Body: An Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology. It has kept me watching with baited breath more than any book I have read lately. Dr. Goodman is an expert teacher and speaker. Thank you Dr. Goodman.
