Dr. Anthony Guarino, MD

Back in 2012 I received steroid injections in my spine 6 months in a row with no relief at all. After that, I said I think I need to see a surgeon. Dr. Guarino literally said "no, stay with me and I will figure it out". I told him no, I need help now.... Welp, I got a surgeon and the surgery actually went great. I was 24 when this all occurred and over 10 years later I am still doing good. Dr. Guarino never even prescribed one medication when I couldn't even walk up and down stairs because my back was so messed up (I had a perfect "C" in my spine from a disc)...I lived with so much pain for over 6 months because all he wanted to do was injections.....I was very disappointed with the way he practiced and yep, calling doctors a medicine practice is very accurate...they are definitely not "in the game yet"

Was a patient for over 15 years. Received many painful injections of which many did not help. Received a lot of medication of which I warned myself down. I was told that if I wanted an injection I would have to ask for it otherwise my visits every 3 months offered no new treatments just continued poorly controlled pain. He showed no empathy or compassion over the years even when I screamed a couple of times during one of his procedures. He left his practice without giving his patients notice and we were left to be reassigned to other physicians at other hospitals. My new physician has subsequently done an injection procedure which is the first humane one I have received in 15 years as well as being offered a variety of treatments and non-narcotic medicines to try & manage the pain which had not been offered for years.

I just found out that Dr Guarino has left. I have relied on him now for about 13 years. Before I started going to him I couldn’t do much. I relied heavily on meds. I have cut the meds down very much. And have had nerve injections to help control the pain. He is a to the point person. Concerned with controlling the pain. Very sorry to see that he has moved. Wish that at the last visit, BJC and Washington would have informed me that this was happening. Hope all the best for Dr Guarino.

I had a Steroid shot in my lower back in the nerve root. Pain from the injection was supposed to go away in 3-5 days. I have had pain from the injection already 3 Weeks. I called the office and talked to several nurses and they said I’ll talk to dr. Guarino and get back with you. I called 4 times and have NEVER heard back from the Dr. and now he’s retired as of today . I would Never recommend this office ever. When I talk to the nurses on the phone they just don’t get it !!!! I would tell them to leave a message and they just hang up and don’t answer my question!!!!

Dr. Guarino is very knowledgeable. He has kept me just this side of sane, with his treatment and care of me. I don't of anyone as compassionate as he is, nor as skilled.

I am surprised he is still allowed to see patients. He put my elderly mother on Fentenal lollipops.she was addicted.

When I read a glowing report about this doctor, I wonder if this is the same doctor who treated me. I could develop no rapport with him due to his cold detached manner. I dreaded each visit. Granted, it has been some time since he treated me, but he did not improve my pain and his main treatment was the fentanyl patch. I don't believe this was a good or safe treatment for anyone. I always felt he was very negative. In short, he not only did not listen to me or help my pain, he made me feel bad about myself. I asked my primary care physician for a referral to a different pain management doctor and have been very happy with this doctor for the last several years. My pain is vastly improved and well controlled now.

the man lies he set me up getting a phone call that my ekg I could go into techardia while I was on methadadone and it was from an ekg strip from 9 yrs prior I had than he let me go after 12 yrs.No one should see this dr or you will regreat it find a difernt pain managemt dr

The office is packed and one waits a long time to be seen. He is good, but the wait time is ridiculous.
