Dr. Anthony Joseph Lembo, MD

I have been having GI issues for a few months and with my own research, came upon Dr. Lembo. Due to his expertise and reviews, I felt like he would be a good fit and called his office to see if he was taking on new patients at this time. The assistant stated he is only seeing patients on a case by case basis after he reviews my case. They told me to have a referral faxed and any medical/test reports stating why I wanted to be seen. I took care of that right away and called back the next day making sure they had received all of the necessary information. They confirmed they had, that the information had been emailed to him/his assistant and someone would get back to me within a few days as to whether he would be taking be on as a new patient. They also stated that if he decided not to, that he would suggest someone else I could possibly see. It is now been over 2 weeks since I sent in my information and everyday I call the office for an update, it is the same answer. "He has been… emailed your documents and you should get a call soon". At this point, I assume he has decided to not take me on as a new patient, which is fine but neither he nor his assistant had the courtesy to call me back with an update. I don't care how good of a doctor he is, the patient service in my eyes is very poor. I own my a business and I would could never imagine not getting back to any of my clients in a timely manner. We are all busy but that is not an excuse. Needless to say, I am highly disappointed in this office.

I went to Tony with Vague Symptoms of HEART ATTACK like pain that would paralyze me in place when it would happen. It felt like a vice was trapping my heart & crushing it. At the end of our meeting he prescribed a medication that worked like a dream & he explain what he thought I was experiencing: Esophageal Spasms When the symptoms would reappear I would Immediately take the medication he gave me & the vice like gripping pain would completely disapate within minutes! Next came my Vague complaints of acid reflux, chronic nausea & lack of appetite. This one was a little more challenging to diagnosis, but Tony figured it out & correctly sent me for all the diagnostic testing to help direct him to the cause. Ultimately he suggested a specific endoscopy under anesthesia, an ERCP. During the endoscopy they discovered that at some point in my life I had had pancreatitis that was never diagnosed or treated. As a result I ended up with a lot of scar tissue in my common bile duct. When… they discovered this the did surgery through the endoscope of the ERCP & cut the scar tissue to open up the duct. I needed to stay NPO for 24 hours in the hospital to make sure I didn't get another infection or hemorrhage. The only problem was the night after the surgery I was HUNGRY & couldn't eat, but fortunately I was fine. Tony explained that as a result of the scar tissue I would need repeated ERCPs & revisions of the scar tissue about every 10 years. It has been 20 years years & only experiencing symptoms again in the last 6 months. Time for an appointment with Tony! ! I love Tony, he's GREAT! ! !

Dr Tony Lembo has made a significant difference in my overall health. He is always responsive and helpful and takes my concerns seriously. I would recommend him especially for complex GI issues

I have to agree with the first reviewer. It is unbelievable how useless Gi doctors are. They do not know anything. You would be better off asking a janitor about your stomach problems because they probably know just as much as these doctors and it would be a lot cheaper. The majority of Gi visits are due to IBS which means the majority of patients with stomach problems will get no relief and doctors have no clue what is wrong with them. I do not know what these people are taught in Med school but it is a huge waste of time.

Dr. Lembo is supposed to have an excellent reputation. I saw Dr. Lembo for 5 years for IBS.He was very disappointing. For somebody who is an "expert" he offered a lot of advice, none of which worked. He spend a lot of time researching but admitted just as much to me that on IBS, he just doesn't know much.I don't understand how somebody can devote their life to the digestive system, yet be so clueless on HOW to resolve IBS. He seems to not take it, IBS, seriously or his patients. His smile is false like his credentials.I am just so disappointed at how the doctors in this field are such morons. To me, Lembo is more interested in getting his name out in journal articles and collecting a paycheck than helping patients.He really doesn't care because he never had IBS. If he actually tried and put in an honest effort, or if his credentials were worth a dime, he'd be able to come up with something better than "We just don't understand IBS."When you call yourself an expert and this is… the best you can offer, you really are a liar and a cheat.That is Dr. Lembo in a nutshell.
