Dr. Anthony C. Luke, MD

I was seen by doctors: Lora Mina Rancourt, Jonathan Taylor, Anthony Cho-Chak Luke, Anna Beyer. Each doctor professionally and competently explained the problems, expressed answers to my questions. My hypotheses regarding my pain in the knee joints, left shoulder, fingers, and heart were analyzed with me. I want to note that every doctor has empathy and sympathy for me as an elderly person. I am very grateful to them for their kindness and professional management of the patient's appointment, determining the causes of the disease and treatment methods. I wish you personal growth and health!

Not a great listener...several visits where he thought he knew what I was going to say and didn't, or answered another question. Even defensive at times

Dr. Luke is exceptional. Great listener, great at answering questions, and great care giver.

Dr. Luke was outstanding. He was friendly and easy to communicate with. He was genuinely interested in my problem, explained the procedure carefully making sure I understood the information. His technique was great--two injections were nearly painless--and as I watched the ultrasound, he pointed out what he was doing. I'm most appreciative.

I've seen Dr. Luke many times at the UCSF Orthopedic Center at Mission Bay. The staff there are very friendly and upbeat. They've already even offered me free snacks in the waiting room (packs of crackers). The facility is nice and new. Dr. Luke is friendly, down-to-earth and seems knowledgeable. I like his approach and he doesn't seem to push surgery, instead trying other approaches, which worked for me and my leg. The down side is his availability. You have to book a month or so in advance. Promptness is an issue too. I heard from other patients that this place sometimes has long waits at appointment time. They were right. I hate to say it, but Dr. Luke has been chronically late. This ranges from about 45 minutes up to an hour and a half. That's an excessively long time to sit and wait in the exam room. If this issue could be fixed, I'd give him 4/4 stars easily.

Dr. Luke is the only primary care physician at the UCSF sports medicine/orthopedics center, as far as I know, so is extremely busy. Appointments with the front desk are tough to come by, so frequently I resorted to contacting his medical assistant for a sooner booking.I consulted Dr. Luke for about half a dozen visits for some chronic sports injuries. Although I found Dr. Luke knowledgeable, most appointments felt rushed.Dr. Luke is definitely one to pursue conservative measures before referrals for surgery, so I appreciated this. Bedside manner, beside the rushed visits, was acceptable -- not altogether sympathetic, but nonetheless courteous.
