Awful dentist and front office. More interested in making money than caring for his patients.

Dr McLaughlin was my dentist for a number of years before I moved to Oregon. Since I move a lot, I have had several dentists, and have had several restorations by different dentists. Each dentist that saw Dr McLaughtlin's porcelain restorations remarked on their very high quality, excellent natural anatomy and durability of his porcelain work...but didn't say much about the other DDS's work. A few of the restorations I have had from other dentists have failed, but the gold and porcelains from this office have been remarkable, even to other cosmetic dentists. He is the only dentist I have ever truly trusted with injections, because he gives them in a way that I can't feel them! (Wish I could find his twin somewhere nearby: traveling to Washington for my dental work is a long commute, (though I have sometimes done that just to have him do a larger restoration!)

He is a very caring Dr. After finding out that depression caused my jaw and neck pain, not only he gave me good suggestion and some prescribe medication, he also sent me a personal email to show me his care. I don't know if any doctor beside my primary doctor would do that.He is unbelievable. I highly recommend him.

I'm extremely unhappy with my experience. Dr. McLaughlin is a great salesman, so he talked me into doing 4 crowns at the same time. Well... I couldn't open my mouth for 2 weeks after that because my jaw joints were overstrained or maybe because I got a shot right into the nerve, who knows, but this has never happened to me before. One of the teeth was hurting terribly, so I kept coming back to adjust the temporaries, which was not helping. After two such adjustments, Dr. McLaughlin was done with me and started sending his assistant instead. When it was time to replace the temporaries, I was still in agony from pain, but instead of trying to figure out why it was hurting so much, he just put the permanent crowns in and told me it would get better. It didn't. So I kept coming back for crown adjustments. But the pain continued. I became an absolute nervous wrack from it. Finally, the crowns were "adjusted" so much that one of them had a hole in it. That did it for me, so after 3… months of torture, I switched to a different dentist. The moral of the story: all that glitters is not gold, meaning nice office and polished sales pitches don't make a good doctor.
