The University of Iowa Dental & Periodontal programs are ranked #4 in the nation.  Its dental specialty program is quite diverse placing a heavy emphasis on current research and techniques in periodontal cosmetics, bone regnerative …therapy and implant placement as well as traditional periodontics.
Research
While at the University of Iowa he did research in alveolar bone following tooth extraction.  Alveolar bone techniques allow periodontists to safely place dental implants in many more locations then was previously possible.
Academic Teaching
Dr. Skinner teaches part-time at the University of Minnesota Dental School.  He is part of the adjunct clinical faculty teaching periodontal residents traditional and advanced periodontics.

PERSONAL
Dr. Skinner is married and enjoys fishing, snow skiing, water skiing, camping, boating and sailing.  As you can see, the common theme is water.  Therefore, living and practicing in the Twin Cities is a little bit like heaven.
