Dr. Anthony M. Urbano, MD

I went to Dr urbanos last year after having heart failure. Three days out of the hospital was my visit. When he first came in the room he asked me if I was in a hurry because he wanted to quick go across the street for a family meeting with another patient. He didn't ask to see the incision area that he made to insert a stent. He was going to start me on a med that he gave me in the hospital that I had a serious reaction to and ended up in ICU.. I reminded him of that. His reply was oh. He didn't tell me I was at risk for sudden cardiac death or offer me the use of the life vest. There were a few other minor actions but the clincher for me was that he told me to make my next app for 6 months. Really.. I would not recommend him to anyone. Also terrible bedside manner.

There are a lot of policies that LVHN has, and in all of their policies, I read that the standard of care must be met ( paraphrasing ) The question is can't LVHN do better than standard of care. This doctor has anger issues seen by a review and what I was also put through, as he was abrupt in and out of surgery, later, ranted to my wife in front of the pastor that was sitting along side of her. Never once doing a follow-up with me after surgery in person. It is reported that I have HYPERTENSION, ( which is high blood pressure ) not hypotension; this can be seen that there was no hypotension, but this is what he wrote and little can be done because in my opinion... LVHN doesn't want to hear this, as long as they provide just the standard of care.

OPINION: It may be true that people can do a job for a long time and be book smart, but being book smart and applying what is learned are two different things. In my opinion he lacks compassion and understanding to the patients needs. He was rude and and abrupt in and out of surgery, as he was ranting to my wife and by what the Pastor heard as he was far from being calm and that another doctor had to apology for his bad behavior and that he was REMINDED of this... How many times was he reminded ?

Had a cardiac cath done by Dr Urbano. Felt horrible pain even after receiving anesthesia to the point that I was screaming in pain. He continued the catheterization and seemed annoyed with me. Afterward he apologized for the "discomfort". When I clarified that I felt pain during the several attempts on the groin and subsequently on the right arm, he then gave me attitude and told me he gave me "enough anesthesia to take down a horse". The anesthesia kicked in during the last part and I slept for 2 hours after the procedure. His lack of empathy is shocking to me. I know this procedures are scheduled but everybody doesn't respond to anesthesia the same way. He could have waited for it to kick in instead of torturing me like that.

Dr. Urbano is, without question, the very best in his field. Excellent and reassuring care.
