At Healthcare Unity Group (HUG), he helps people living with HIV, seeking HIV prevention, or navigating hepatitis treatment feel heard, respected, and supported. His approach begins with a simple belief: every person deserves excellent healthcare delivered with love, acceptance, and dignity.

Dr. Walko brings a distinctive educational background to his work. With a doctorate in chiropractic, dual certification as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and an HIV Specialist credential through the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVS), he considers physical health, emotional well-being, and each patient’s lived experience together.

His training informs a trauma-informed, patient-centered approach that recognizes how past experiences, stigma, stress, and financial hardship can affect health and trust. He takes time to listen, explain options, and build a …care plan with each patient.

A Passion for HIV Treatment and Prevention

While practicing in New York City during the pandemic, Dr. Walko witnessed how healthcare disparities, housing insecurity, substance use, and infectious diseases could leave people without the support they needed. Those experiences helped inspire HUG’s mission: to reduce and ultimately eliminate financial and geographical barriers without sacrificing quality of care.

Dr. Walko is passionate about helping people living with HIV thrive and expanding access to HIV prevention, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). He also provides hepatitis treatment, bringing the same commitment to education, collaboration, and compassionate support to every visit.
