Dr. Anthony Douglas Watson, MD

Similar to other posts, Dr. Watson mis-diagnosed my medical issues - as confirmed by my surgeon.

I completely wasted my time with Dr. Watson. I won't bore you with the specifics of my problem, but I waited for 45 min to have Dr. Watson spend literally 30 seconds with me and tell me that I need surgery without even considering any other options. When I inquired about other options, he interrupted and said, "I'm a surgeon so I'm gonna do surgery." In a nutshell, he was extremely phony, abrupt, rude and pushy. I will never see this doctor again and am upset that I took a half day off from work to make this visit. If I could rate him with zero stars, I would.

Office staff was unprofessional and disorganized.

Went to "Dr" Watson for a heel spur. He did the surgery and I followed all his instructions. On follow up visits, I kept telling him I was still experiencing a significant amount of pain. He kept assuring me this was normal and it would just take time. So at a year following surgery, I spoke to him in earnest, explaining that my foot was still in pain and was swelling after a small amount of walking. He said it was normal but to appease me he did an MRI. He said that everything looked fine. He made me feel like I was overreacting and told me I just needed to exercise more patience. His bedside manner at this visit made me very uncomfortable, like I was making up the pain. So I sought out a second opinion, taking with me the same MRI Dr Watson had requested. The new ortho surgeon said that it was obvious from the MRI why I was experience so much pain, the tendon wasn't attached!!!! I had to endure a 2nd surgery to transfer the tendon from my big toe over my heel and another long… recovery period. If Dr Watson had caught it sooner, my tendon may not have been damaged beyond repair. But he ignored my pleas and then outright lied about the MRI results. Can't imagine how long I may have gone with this pain had I not sought out a second opinion. I warn everyone to stay away from this doctor.

I went to dr watson right after I had my right wrist all messed up by another doctor in Pittsburgh and he went back and operated on it and here he had to replace my bone because my bone was gone from the last surgeon. I really like dr watson and his office staff, they are always willing to work with you. Altogether I had 6 operations done on my right wrist but not by dr watson, he tried fixing what was all messed up from the other doctor, but since so much damage was done no luck, but he also did my left wrist surgery and he only had to operated once and then again to remove the screws and plate. He is a wonderful doctor, easy to get along with and a doctor who wants to help as much as he can. I have been to both his offices and everyone is very nice.

Dr Watson was very personable and liked to talk about himself. He should have spent more time talking to the patient to find out how he could treat her best. You would think a surgeon would know how to tape a finger with a fracture in order to prevent further injury and be comfortable for the patient. He should also know what you can and cannot do with a fracture. His advice was terrible and we had to seek other care. He did not buddy tape fingers and told my daughter could do anything as long as she had very flimsy tape job on that is office did. Didn't care that she is a soccer player or that she has a weightlifting class. Very poor advice.

As a Nurse I have a unique understanding of how doctors and surgeons bedside manners can effect a patients view of them. Dr. Watson had a good bedside manner, he was very positive and explained things to me in a manner that was not condescending. He didn't spend a ton of time with me but for a surgeon, he spent a lot of time with me. Dr. Watson typically specializes in wrist surgery but for me I needed an ACL replacement from a Hockey Injury. So far I am one year post OP and I am now back to hockey and doing very well. While he is not a great surgeon he is definitely a good surgeon.

i have had 4 operations from dr. watson and he is very good
