Dr Weiss is an amzing Dr. who helped me through a very difficult time.In fact the worst time in my life.I am so grateful for his help! Now he is leaving MGH.A huge loss to MGH patients.A gain to another very fortunate hospital and patients.We wish you the very best Dr. Weiss!!

Excellent caring Dr.

Mass General is the top-rated hospital in the US for psychiatry, but Dr Weiss was a big disappointment to me. He spent the usual 1st hour appt talking to me at length to diagnose me, then put me into one of those standard little boxes doctors put you into without acknowledging your unique circumstances and symptoms. One Rx fits all, and he wouldn't continue some of the meds that had worked for me before. He did prescribe one new med that helped, but another gave me no help and very bad reactions. He accused me of smoking pot--that came out of nowhere, and no, I don't. He didn't believe that I travel for a living (that's easy to verify with my employer), so he wouldn't let me refill my Rx's a few days early when I would be gone for a and miss the refill date. In general I found his behavior to be insulting. I'm a mental health patient, but of all people, a psychiatrist should understand that and not be abusive. Mass General got their #1 rating based on research dollars and other… numerical methods, but NOT on patient satisfaction surveys. If you have a standard condition, he might be right for you, but a couple other psychiatrists I've seen acknowledged that my conditions are "atypical" and were willing to try different mixes of meds to help me--and they did! He didn't help me at all.
