Things with Dr. Goel started off great. My mother was in the hospital for about a week and as the week drew to a close and my mother's condition improved, although the specialist she was being treated by disagreed for her to go home, Dr. Goel insisted that she did. She claimed that there was nothing more that she could do and that my mother's swelling (she has CHF) was normal. Dr. Goel had never seen or treated her before so how could she say it was normal. She's also not a cardiologist, she's an internist. She argued with my mother and I, nearly refusing to speak to the other doctors and listen to my mother. She eventually gave in a let my mother stay another day. The next day, after every specialist said mom wasn't ready to go home, Dr. Goel comes in and says, it's time for you to be discharged. Actually no, first she comes in with poor body language and a bad attitude. She had her arms crossed and says "what's up?" She's doctor, she should be telling my mother and I what's up. Not… the other way around. She then said that none of the other doctors gave her any indication that my mother needed to stay. My mother said, "fine, I'll just go home but if I die, it's on you. Your care for me has been terrible." Dr. Goel then refused to speak to my mother anymore and walked out of the room. My mother ended up being discharged although she wasn't back in the condition that she needed to be to be "go home ready". In all likelihood, Dr. Goel was covering herself because her big bad boss was calling her every day asking her why this bed was still being occupied by this patient. She was trying to keep herself from getting in trouble. Avoid her at all cost.
