Dr. Anupam Basant Kharbanda, MD

Anupam Kharbanda is the Director of Research for Emergency Services and the Associate Fellowship Director for Pediatric Medicine. He attended medical school at the University of Iowa and completed his residency training in pediatrics and served as Chief Resident at Columbia University. Anupam completed a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Boston Children?s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He has also received a Masters in Biostatistics at Columbia University. Dr. Kharbanda was an attending physician at Columbia University for five years before relocating to Minneapolis in 2010. Dr. Kharbanda has published numerous articles in the field of pediatric appendicitis. He is nationally recognized for his work on clinical pathways for the management of children in the emergency department setting. He has written several textbooks chapters on abdominal pain, pediatric appendicitis and pediatric trauma. His current interests include developing evidenced-based care pathways …electronic decision support, and quality improvement within the pediatric emergency department. He is also actively engaged in fellow and resident education. Anupam is married and has two school-aged children.
