Dr. Anupama Mathew

I highly advise you use any other doctor. Dr. Mathew is borderline dangerous. She injured my colon during a colonoscopy and I had to be transported to banner Boswell emergency room where Dr. Goodman had to perform an emergency laparoscopy. He said she used too much air and it caused a tear in my colon. I spent 4 days in banner Boswell recovering from the injury she caused. Prior to the surgery Dr. Goodman attempted to reach her multiple times but she wouldn't return his call. When he finally did get her on the phone I could hear him ask her "Aren't you aware you have a patient over here in the ER? You could tell he was very frustrated with her lack of concern. Over a month later and still dealing with severe diarrhea. Banner Del Webb emergency room diagnosed me as being positive for c-diff. When I call her office you can tell she's very irritated and she's short and rude. I feel like I'm supposed to apologize for bothering her with something as unimportant as my health. She still… hasn't apologized to me for the injury or the pain and suffering she's caused

I was desperately ill when I went to see her and after about 10 minutes into out appointment she told me very rudely to get out of her office and she stormed out of the room. Why? Because she was not the first gastroenterologist I went to see. She was the second and I guess her ego could not stand that I did not "choose" her first. Bad experience and she was so rude I was just shocked.

When I went to this Doctor for Ulcerative Colitis, she misdiagnosed me and treated me for something else completely different. When I had my colonoscopy, the medication they prescribed to clear me out didn't work. As I woke up from the anesthesia, the first words out of her mouth were "bad news." She was angry that the procedure didn't work and stomped off and told me to call her office to reschedule. I've never dealt with a doctor as rude, disrespectful, and frankly, not at all knowledgeable. Do not go to this doctor if you care about your health.

The office told me to arrive 15 minutes earlier for paperwork so I did. When I arrived, office was dark and closed. Finally everyone shows up 15 minutes late. I brushed this off as a one time occurrence, not reflective of her practice. The visit itself was fine though I was having quite a bit of pain. She recommended a procedure for the diagnoses, so I had the procedure. Following the procedure, I was still in a lot of pain and she said I should not be having so much pain. So she recommended antidepressant/anxiety medications. I felt like I was being accused of narcotic seeking. Then still in so much pain, I went to the ER. They diagnosed me differently and I had emergency surgery. I am NOT recommending this doctor.

I have been seeing Dr. Mathew for a little over 3 years for a chronic gastrointestinal condition. When I first came to Dr. Mathew, I was in really bad shape and had some horrible experiences with other Gastroenterologists. As soon as I met Dr. Mathew, she got right down to business on how we could resolve my flare up. She immediately got me into her procedure center so my case could be investigated and within no time I was put on an alternative treatment and my condition has been well managed ever since. She has excellent bedside manner and she treats you like an actual human being rather than just a patient. I couldn’t recommend her more.

Dr Mathew has ZERO bedside manner- she is abrupt and pompous. Has an attitude which I do not appreciate. Her policies are ridiculous. Never had posted what schools she went to. Avoid this doctor- her negative attitude proceeds her!

I had a wonderful experience with Dr Mathew. I was able to get my appointment and procedure scheduled within the same week. She was very detailed, and caring. I recommend her highly.

I scheduled an appointment with this doctor. I followed all instructions as prescribed to prepare for the colonoscopy procedure. I had a severe reaction to the medication, extremely painful, some people have no problems with this medication, Suprep, but I had severe abdominal pains that lasted over 10 hours. I was forced to cancel my colonoscopy due to my level of pain and discomfort. I called the office the morning of the procedure to speak with the doctor to explain the severe, painful reaction. The receptionist told me that the doctor would not call me and that I would be billed a $100.00 cancelation fee. They have a very explicit cancelation fee, however I was told that there is not an exception if you have a reaction to the medication. I was told that this is a common side effect and would be billed the cancelation fee anyway. Be cautious and find a doctor who is actually concerned about your health.

I just spent about 45 minutes with Dr. Mathew. I highly recommend her: her care, her ability to explain what the test means in laypersons terms, her ability as a doctor to do the tests that are needed and why I needed that particular test, her friendliness and kindness, her staff are warm and welcoming.

Good listener and communicator. I really like the anesthesiologist that she works with.
