Dr. Anzhelika Vaccaro, MD

Dr Vaccaro has been working with me on a glaucoma condition I have for the past 2 years. This has included laser treatments in her Port Jefferson office and a full battery of exams. The office treats one with respect and kindness and as for Dr Vaccaro she is a most professional doctor. Will answer any question you have and explains what is going on. I have great confidence in this doctor. With her guidance I have prevented a much more devastating situation from occurring.

I was extremely disappointed with my visit. I went to Dr. Vaccaro after experiencing sudden pain upon movement in my left eye, followed by blurred vision in my left eye a few days later. I was first seen by an assistant who performed an eye exam for glasses, despite me telling her my vision was blurry and it wouldn't be accurate. She said it would be ok and we should do it anyway. I told her I was also experiencing strange neurological symptoms (numbness), which she largely blew off. Then I went to a different waiting room to wait for the doctor. I finally made it to the exam room and the doctor came in. She spent less than 2 minutes in the exam room with me. She rapidly inserted yellow eye drops into my eyes and performed an exam. I was told that I had dry eyes and "an allergy on the left eye", whatever that means. She did not address the pain or blurriness at all. She gave me 2 prescriptions for eye drops and scheduled an appointment for a dilation in one month. She left the… room before I was even able to ask a question. Later I called back to cancel the follow up appointment and ask for the prescription from the eye exam. I was told that the prescription wouldn't be accurate because my vision was blurry - NO KIDDING, that is what I said to the assistant originally. I also found out they wanted another appointment for a complete eye exam. It just seems like they want to squeeze as much money out of you as possible. The kicker? A week later I went to a neurologist and was subsequently diagnosed with optic neuritis and multiple sclerosis. Optic neuritis is hard to detect so I don't blame Dr. Vaccaro for that, but she did not take the pain, blurriness or the numbness I mentioned seriously. The appointment was a complete waste of time.

Dr. Vaccaro is a competent dr. She keeps her appointments and answers any question you may have. I have confidence in her. I will continue to make future appointments for my eye care.
