Dr. Aparajita Kashyap Mahata, MD

Dr Mahata is a excellent gyn. She was my gyn while I was pregnant with my first child and she did not play when it came to the safety of the patient and baby. I was placed on bedrest due to preeclampsia I was a month from delivery and I didn't lesson and went to work anyways until I had my appointment and it showed it was worse . She gave me 2 choices be admitted to the hospital or she's going to call the police to have me admitted. She told me if I didn't care about myself she wouldn't allow me to put my child in danger. I was admitted and I definitely knew at that moment she would go above and beyond for her patients and children safety always. I had to be induced labor and she even sent me out to Baltimore hospital because I was a high risk with asthma and the preeclampsia that if something was to go wrong that hospital had the better necessary procedures and precautions for my type of circumstances. (Yes a month early June instead of July) She stayed in contact with me the whole… time I was there and encouraged me when I had to have a c - section due to the baby had turned sucking his thumb and couldn't be turned. I even called her 5am before I went in and she was completely courteous and supportive and giving me advice on how to do my breathing techniques properly. I am so grateful for her and I appreciate everything that she has done. Yes I only have the one child. She was my sister's ob for all 4 of her children. I would recommend her to anyone who want a doctor who is intelligent, wise, knowledgeable and willing to help and go above and beyond for the safety and health of her patients and children. I would never forget her and her wonderful ability to ensure my health and safety for me and my child. God sent her in our lives because God had chosen the right one. So grateful and thankful, appreciative.

Beware do not go too this doctor!! She delivered my second child and refused too give me the other half of my epidural. That is not her decision too make and say I will not be able too push too the anathesiolist who tried for me. I was horrified!! I almost kicked her right in the head and wish I had of. Later I found she did all these blood tests I would not approve of and are not needed as too the race of the mother and father. I asked her why potassium was not hooked up during labor she said allergic too it. I said whom said I was allergic too potassium. My husband wanted me too stay with the same doctor but wanted too change too another GYN at 5 months pregnant. I was not comfortable with her at all. Changed my mind about a surgery and was just taken into the operating room anyway very upset and crying my eyes out. Certain things said too me by her during appointments were weird. I am elongated and too use vitamin E on my stomach personally coco butter is the best!!

Takes at least an hour to be seen no matter how early we are for appointments, every time without fail. My girlfriend is 37 weeks pregnant and should not be sitting uncomfortably for such a long period of time...one would assume her OB would understand this. Dr Mahata and her nurse Ashley are abrasive and dismissive, and do not seem to care for their patients at all. It has taken over 4 weeks just to receive a signature to allow maternity leave to begin. There is a significant lack of attention paid to patients in this office; Mahata often gives recommendations and then forgets, dismisses, or outright changes her mind about them from week to week. Ashley has claimed to have called us to give us the results of every exam for the past 8 months, but we have never received a single call from the office other than automated appointment reminders - they have the correct number on file, but cannot be bothered to call and tell us how our baby is doing. My girlfriend also often complains about… Mahata's roughness during exams.

Dr. Mahata is one of the meanest doctors that I have ever had in my life. She was very pushy and did not listen to my concerns at all. I began seeing her as a teen and she was rude to my mother when she asked questions. Later on she was rude to me and tried to force me to have a Pap smear before the predicted age. She literally would roll her eyes at me. And at the end of the appointment she would turn her back on me and have her nurse write me prescriptions. I do not know what her problem is but she is a judgemental and rude. She was okay for the first few appointments but her true colors really showed later on. I left after she wouldn't even refill my birth control.

She signed her signature for termination of the physician/patient relationship after I have not seen her for one year. I called front desk secretary named Tara. Tara was very rude and never tell me who she is. When I called Tara for my requests refill medicine for cream. However, they ordered wrong medicine (pills) at the pharmacy for pick up. I was suffered for one week. I asked my another primary doctor and did authorized for me to get right medicine. This service is so awful and rude. Tara did not do right things with her job and talked back my behind. Good luck with them even with Tara for answer your questions.

Dr. Mahata was a God send to me! Her office was the only office to accept our Insurance in Calvert County for my first pregnancy. But since then we have formed a great patient / doctor relaionship. She delivered all 5 of my childern and I would trust her for any of my OBGYN appointments. She was always available to talk to me even on Christmas day one year. Her office staff is exeptionally kind and always available to talk when I needed. I refer anyone who asked my opion of a OBGYN to her. I would never go anywhere else.

Dr. Mahata cares about her clients. I was on bed rest for most of my pregnancy and she took all precautions to ensure that my baby and I were healthy. Thank you!

I saw Dr. Mahata only once for an annual gyn exam. During my exam she told me I had "something" on my uterus and snip it off to send to a lab and told me I would need a D&C. As they rushed me to set up the D&C appointment, I got more worried thinking this was something really potentially bad. I said I was going for a second opinion. Imagine my surprise when I called back two weeks later to ask about the results and was asked what I was talking about. They didn't have anything to send off, nor did they have me needing to schedule a D&C. After going back and forth with them for a couple of weeks, I went for my second opinion where the new doctor said she didn't know what Dr. Mahata saw but everything looked perfectly normal. I guess it was one of her off days (or weeks).
