April Qualley, APRN, AGPCNP-C, CWON-AP, provides wound care as part of General Surgery. She has advanced training and certification in wound and ostomy care. Her clinical interests include wound evaluation, treatment planning, and care for patients who need help healing after surgery. She also provides wound assessments and treatment recommendations for people in nursing homes. April's background includes home health and hospice care, long-term care, intensive care, and case management. Her most recent experience includes 10 years working in plastic surgery, where she used her wound care skills to support healing and help some patients avoid surgery. She has eight years of experience providing nipple-areola micropigmentation for people who have had mastectomies or surgery involving the nipple-areola complex. She also provides this service for transgender patients who have lost color after surgery. April views wound care as a process of finding the right pieces to support healing. She …explains options, offers guidance, and helps patients take an active role in their care. Her goal is to identify the patient's goals and help them reach those goals. Telehealth visits may be available for patients who have long commutes. She earned her master's degree in adult-gerontology primary care from the University of South Alabama and her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Minnesota Mankato.
