Prior to seeing Dr. Makadiya, I read reviews and went to see him with a lot of hesitation. Two years later, Dr. Makadiya is still my psychiatrist. He takes his time listening and talking to me about my medications and addresses other factors that may contribute to my depression or mood swings. He thoroughly explains any drug interactions--if I have any questions that he cannot answer at the time, he will research it for me. I was physically dependent to high doses of Xanax for five years (because of a previous psychiatrist), but he helped me ween off of it. He goes above and beyond to help me come up with alternative coping methods if he feels like my mood swings are due to environment. When I was having a lot of anxiety due to mood swings, he told me to try acupuncture... which actually did help me out of my funk! He avoids over prescribing medication and is very cautious with medications that can lead to physical dependence. I think his cautious approach is why he has some bad… reviews--but the very reason why I think he is an excellent doctor.

Dr. Makadiya did not listen to me at all, negated my own experience in what medication therapy has worked for me in the past and made me suffer unnecessarily for several months before he changed my SSRI meds, which I finally insisted he do.
