Dr. Ara Chitchyan, MD

I am native of Armenia and moved to USA in 2000 to complete my medical education. I had privilege to live in many wonderful states - Maine, New York, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Colorado and finally Georgia. I am a physiatrist - a doctor of function. I help patients who had life changing events, like stroke or amputation, on their road to restoration of their independence.

It is of utmost importance to me to treat the patient as a whole rather than the disease. I work closely with all the medical specialists and have great experience navigating the healthcare field with the patient. One of unique ways I help the patient is to directly prescribe and follow through with the treatment. Due to complexity of conditions I treat, this may include adaptive equipment, prostehtics, physical, occupational and speach therapies.

I also perform different diagnostic and treatment procedures. My unique skill set includes electrodiagnostic evaluation (EMG, or otherwise knows as "nerve test"), …musculoskeletal ultrasoud for diagnostic and guidance purposes, joint injections, chemodenervation for treatment of spasticity (Botox injections), as well as variety of regenerative medicine procedures including PRP and stem cell procedures.

I do not treat pain - I try to understand and investigate underlying cause of pain and treat that! I do, however, deal with acute and chronic pain issues.

Throuhgout my short carier I have worked with many wonderful individuals who happened to be patients. I have created lasting friendships and forged relationships that extend beyond doctor-patient interaction. For me, that part of medicine is the reason why I have chosen to become a physician.
