Dr. Ara James Hanissian, MD

No follow up on Anything! Also insisted on all tests to be run at HIS office including heart tests and sleep tests. FINALLY went to Stern Clinic & found Hanissian misdiagnosed me TWO YEARS EARLIER!!!! Ridiculous number of expensive tests run.

Dr. Ara gets 5 stars ! His front and phone staff may deserve a 2 on a good day! Many say Dr. Ara is worth the many sacrifices his patients go through. A dr. Of his calibur should listen to patients, regarding such mistreatment which must be endured just to spend moments with him. With exception of one working nurse, Doc needs to clean house and start All over with new trained staff.

Ara has been my main physician for over 15 years, and I've shown up on his door with more than my fair share of problems. He, Gina, Valerie (their top-notch nurse practitioner), and their outstanding office professionals have kept me upright and functioning for most of that time. It has not been an easy task for them. Ara is one of those rare front-line doctors whose communications and listening skills are just as good as his medical skills. Medically brilliant, certainly, he also seems to have an encyclopedic memory of his patients' lives--a fact that I'm not sure he's aware of. Or maybe he just works really hard at it. Either way, it's impressive and reassuring. You may never need to know it, but the people who are running the office are among the best in their fields, too. The professionals at the front desk, the nurses, even the person who calls to check on you afterwards, when appropriate--all outstanding people who are good at their jobs despite the expected… fatigue, stress, and the myriad things we patients can show up with on any given day asking them to solve. Smart, wonderful people with huge brains and huge-r hearts.

Dr. Ara was able to listen to my concerns and eventually put together the pieces of my medical history and diagnose my illness. He had me sent for further testing to confirm. He handles my chronic illness with an open mind and helpful insight. His wife Gina is also a physician of superb caliber and their Physician Assistant Valerie is top knotch! My entire family goes here and we all feel that the care given to us is outstanding. I might add that the staff is equally impressive, good at taking the time to connect the dots , call back , set up appointments, call about labs etc. Everyone in this office cares, and it shows.

Would highly recommend this physician. He is the best diagnostician I have ever encountered. He listens, is caring and compassionate. Many physicians don't want patient with complex problems--Dr. Hanissian takes on the complex.
