Dr. Ara J Robinson, DO

I was a patient of Dr Robinson’s for over 7 years. To be honest, I was never really comfortable with this doctor because he always spoke more than he listened. I always felt rushed in my appointments and I was never given a chance to actually work out my problems. It was always about what medication that he could prescribe or what dosage he could increase. Reluctantly, I continued to see him because of my wife and the history he had with her family. Over the course of the 7 years… I struggled to stay on the medication I was given because of how drastically it had changed my personality and mood towards the world. It made me really not care but when I attempted to bring this up in sessions with Dr. Robinson, my dosage changed. So I just quit attempting. Also during this time, there were many occasions that I did video appointments. There was never a time that I didn’t have to wait for him to log on. I’d often sit in my truck in a job site wasting time waiting for him to come on. It… always irked me but I never said anything. Then, my last appointment, I was 10 minutes late logging on and when I did, he was not there. So I waited like I always do. Nothing. So I called the office and inquired but was told that I had missed the appointment and they would have to reschedule. I asked if there was availability and was told that he was free but I’d have to pay a $100 fee for missing the appointment. I tried to explain my situation but it fell on completely deaf and unsympathetic ears. I told them that I would not give him $100 for nothing(extortion.) so she said they would not reschedule the appointment until I paid. In the next few days, I received a letter from his office stating he would no longer see me. Which is fine, I really hated seeing him. But the problem now is that I am dependent on the medication he was prescribing and I no longer have access to them. So I am suffering physically now. Be very careful about seeing this dr. He cares only about the money and not helping the problem.

Not helpful at all. In fact, he's rude, condescending, and clearly only interested in doing quick fixes to make as much money as fast as possible. Stay away from this provider.

As someone who has been in and out of the mental health system for the last 20 years, I can say Dr. Robinson is the best psychiatrist in the Des Moines area. His compassion, understanding, and ability to relate to me is like no other psychiatrist I have gone to. I highly recommend Dr. Robinson.

Dr. Robinson is the best! His kindness and compassion makes it so easy to discuss otherwise uncomfortable subjects like mental health issues and medication. I feel very lucky to have him referred to me. If you're looking for a dr that genuinely cares and will take the time to listen and make the proper diagnosis, he's the guy!

I find Dr. Robinson to be a very personable, easy to talk to person. He's very open and non threatening as I have found some to be. I feel he genuinely cares. Overall I have been very pleased.

Dr. Robinson is professional, courteous and a very caring doctor. He listens to what I have to say. He's always encouraging. He takes the entire time to talk with me and really find out how I am doing and how well my meds are working. One can't help but feel that this is a doctor who truly cares about his patients and he's like that from the moment you meet him. He comes across as a real person and some egomaniac as too many psychiatrisst do. I highly recommend this young, engergetic doctor.

My primary care physician referred me to Dr. Robinson for management of my psych meds. It took several weeks for my PCP to find Dr. Robinson and get me an appointment. I was concerned about going to Dr. Robinson because his med diploma was from Des Moines University and I was "coming off" of a bad experience - two years of going to another DO psych doc here in DM and the prescribed treatment was not helping me. I was relieved to see another diploma in his office from the University of Iowa med school. He has additional training from the U of Iowa. I liked Dr. Robinson from the moment we met and he has given me good care since then. I have been going to see him for almost two years. He listens carefully to what I tell him and takes a lot of notes. He encourages me to do my own research on the Internet about the meds I am taking and how I am feeling. I bring in articles that I print from the Internet and we discuss them. He makes me feel like I am actively working on my… problems with him. Thank you, Dr. Robinson.

i like my ara because hes nice and does wonderful and i have purfured some people to him ive been seeing him for along time and i woundnt ask for another doctor he has patients and im a person that likes helping people with problems i hope every 1 there has a wonderful day every day and as far as im concerned you all are stars and you get lots of points
