Dr. Arash Isaac Zarimani, MD

Dr Zarimani is an excellent doctor. He listens, asks questions, and cares. I was anxious about my endoscopy, and being fully sedated. Went off like a breeze. I’ll take a good doctor any day over a good bedside manner. With Dr Zarimani you get both! Very nice but all business. Highly recommend.

I was under this physicians care for nearly 3 months during a difficult episode of dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) when he abruptly decided to end our relationship. I had lost 50 lbs in less than 3 months and the problem had not been resolved. He had ordered a test to determine if I was having motility issues of the esophagus and before the test could be completed, he decided to stop providing care for me. He listed that I was "verbally abusive" and that there was a "lack of trust" between provider and patient as the reasons for doing so. Neither the office, or him, ever called me to discuss the situation, nor did they try to resolve any issues of trust with me. I simply was denied care with a letter that gave no indication of when and even IF I would get the test that I needed. This action felt rather retaliatory as I never once got a chance to resolve things or to apologize and explain my behavior. I actually am on disability for a mental illness and due to the stress of not… eating (I have lost nearly 50 pounds) as well as feeling like it was taking too long to have the needed test scheduled, I lost "my cool". I apologize for doing so, but feel this is particularly damaging, especially since I was never approached and given the chance to apologize and correct my behavior. The incident was not with out provocation. I was silenced and "cut off" while trying to share to the office personnel that other providers of mine were hesitant to prescribe meds and treat me without having the results of the test. This is why I "popped off" and although I regret it, I do not feel I should have been denied care as a result of one incident. I do recognize the office is limited in what they can do as insurance was also playing a part, but it was the way I felt silenced and shut down during a medical issue of which I have struggled with that lead to my ISOLATED incidence of anger. I am pretty devastated over this. As an individual who has considerable anxiety and who has been dealing with this swallowing issue now for about three months, I was eager to get the test completed to rule out things before treating it as a psychological issue. My psychiatric provider and therapist BOTH have been waiting patiently for the test to occur. None the less, the issue is potentially life threatening as I continue to lose weight. 50 pounds in less than 3 months is too much weight to lose in that amount of time. People are concerned about my health and yet, I feel this provider acted impulsively and rashly in a very unkind way and this shows a lack of concern on his behalf. I was never once approached by him or the staff member. I have worked for years in medical care (skilled nursing facilities) and have had many patients "lose their cool" and I have always been understanding and have been willing to approach them later when they have "cooled off". I am beyond disappointed. I can understand IF I had been repeatedly abusive, but it was an ISOLATED INCIDENT. I am really sad over this. I am now left scrambling to find another provider while still sick and losing weight. The test and the interpretation of the results will now have to be put off again, while I continue to struggle. I quickly called my provider, but the quickest appointment is a month away and that is just for a new referral! Because of being denied care for losing my temper ONE TIME, I now may likely wait another 1.5-2 months to see a new provider for care. This is unacceptable to anyone. I would definitely not see this provider as this incident is beyond damaging to me. I will have to wait it out and suffer while a new provider is established and the test performed. This was not a professional way to act and it was cold and uncaring. I would have readily apologized for how I acted when silenced, but I did not deserve being denied care. Honestly, I have dealt with a disabled adult tearing my shirt off and being accosted and still was able to treat that individual with dignity and respect. Oh well. I will remember this incident for as long as I live. It is a good lesson... don't let your anger out, ever... someone might get retaliatory and deny you access to care. I can support them doing so HAD they spoken to me and I continued to behave in disruptive ways... but it happened ONE time. I honestly wonder if they were looking at my diagnosis and this is a discriminatory action as they acted very impulsively to "get rid of me". I did NOT deserve this. I made a mistake... now I have to fear ever getting angry with a medical provider that they will withdraw caring for me and deny me treatment. We live in a terrifying world anymore.
