I have been with Kaiser Permanente in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1992, following completion of my training at Harvard. I’ve always been proud of the qualities of my colleagues and the medicine we practice. We believe in prevention, cutting edge evidence-based medicine, and partnering with patients in assuming responsibility for their own health. Our Nuclear Medicine Department at Walnut Creek Medical Center is one of the busiest in the Bay Area in the number of patients seen and the variety of procedures performed. Our reputation of excellent quality and innovative practices travels wide among our patients and referring physicians.
Since 2000, I have had the privilege to serve as the Chief of Nuclear Medicine and Associate Chief of Radiology for the Diablo Service Area. In this position, I have the opportunity to work with many dedicated Kaiser Permanente professionals and support staff from different departments across Northern California, and I am …impressed with their daily focus on service and quality.
Nuclear Medicine is the specialty employing radioactive materials administered into the human body to diagnose or treat diseases. My subspecialty interests and qualifications include Bone Densitometry, Nuclear Cardiology, radionuclide therapies, and Positron Emission Tomography (PET). I am an active member of the Academy of Molecular Imaging, Society of Nuclear Medicine Councils, California Medical Association, and serve as Counselor for the Alameda and Contra Costa Medical Association.
About me
Since childhood I have been interested in both biological and physical sciences. I chose medicine over nuclear physics because of multidisciplinary approaches and relevance to daily human conditions. Little did I know then I would have specialized in Nuclear Medicine, a clinical specialty combining heavy doses of medicine and physics, which is a perfect fit for me.
Apart from clinical practice, I participated in teaching technologists and medical residents and evaluated research projects and new technologies. I have also volunteered my service at free clinics. I am married and we have one daughter. We enjoy fusion cooking, classical music ensembles, yoga, Chinese ink paintings and calligraphy, skiing our mountains, hiking in the redwood forests, and kayaking along the coast of California.

In addition to English, I speak Cantonese and Mandarin.
