Dr. Aren Hovie Skolnick, DO

Pretty Awful - totally irresponsible and uncaring. I first saw this guy at an Endocrin clinic I was sent to. I was having terrible symptoms and did not know what was happening to me - it was frightening. So he ordered some bloodwork for me. It turned out that I had some major stuff going on -- but guess what? This young cocky careless guy took off on some vacation - and never even Looked at my blood tests results -- and NEVER bothered to inform me of my condition. It wasn't until I kept calling the office and pestering the staff that I was finally told of my diagnosis, only after a lot of "Didn't the doctor tell you???" NO!! he never told me Anything!! And some office staff person finally said " oh, you have ________ Disease". That's how Bad and irresponsible this guy is -- he never ever bothered to inform me of the very serious condition I had developed. I would not recommend him to anyone for any reason!!

I had heard great things about Dr. Skolnick, so I called to make an appointment with him. I was told that in order to get an appointment with him I needed to: (a) be related to one of his patients; (b) be friends with one of his patients; or (c) be cleared by a different doctor named David Rosenthal first?? What?? I've been diagnosed with Thyroid disease for 10 years now, and I need to go to one doctor to get to see the doctor I want? I don't need referrals with my insurance plan..So ridiculous..I called my health insurance and they are looking into this. That is not how the contract is supposed to be followed. Very disappointed that he is part of Northwell.

Dr. Skolnick was patient, knowlegeable and very thorough. It was a first appointment and he took all the time he needed to get to know me and my history.

I saw Dr. Skolnick a little bit ago for hypothyroidism/hair loss. I've been to so many endocrinologists over the years that I was beginning to lose faith in finding one that actually LISTENS and cares. Dr. Skolnick spoke to me, got all my bloodwork, ordered more bloodwork and called me 6 weeks later to follow up on those tests. We're starting from the bottom up and I'm due to see him in 2 months and altho I always thought I can do this thyroid thing on my own because I believed no doctor understood the battle, I am confident in listening to Dr. Skolnick and finally taking doctors orders for once. He's great- try him out!

Dr. Skolnick is warm, friendly, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. He treated my mom with care and respect, listened to her concerns and thoroughly explained everything to us. He is our new favorite doctor!

Deciding on a second doctor for the treatment dr Skolnick wanted to do, it was completely different. It was much more conserstive. Better yet all symptoms are gone. My opinion is dr Skolnick, in the future will gain much more experience. He is very young and bright, very nice. But in my case, I am happy I sort another doctor.
