Ariel Shapiro

Originally from New York, I have been building a community in the Boston area for about 8 years. I was a sensitive kid myself. I struggled with depression, a father who had a chronic illness, and some big feelings. When I was a kid I benefited from talking and playing with a therapist. That helped inspire my career in working with children and young people around big feelings and experiences that can come up. I also spent time traveling and living in Colombia and South America in my 20s. I learned about the power of the environment, systems, culture, etc. in shaping who we are as people. I am passionate about making connections between our environments and who we are. I love working with people, sharing what I have learned in psychology and expressive arts. I believe with honesty, connection, and awareness we have the power to heal and grow and I am honored to be a therapist and support people on their journeys of growth. I bring trauma-informed practices, narrative therapy, and …mindfulness into the work. I believe that people have the resources they need, and with some support, we can move through and work towards living in better harmony with ourselves and each other.
