Dr. ARIELA FRIEDER, MD is a BOARD CERTIFIED PSYCHIATRISTMy name is Ariela Frieder and I am a bilingual (English and Spanish), board certified psychiatrist who specializes in women’s mental health. This includes emotional and psychological problems during pregnancy, postpartum, perinatal losses, infertility and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. MY PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUNDMy background includes a residency in OBGYN in Argentina and, a residency in Adult Psychiatry and a Fellowship in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry at Montefiore Medical Center/ Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. Initially, after graduation I worked at the Primary care and High Risk OBGYN clinic at Montefiore Medical Group where I treated women suffering from different psychiatric conditions and going through pregnancy, postpartum, infertility and perinatal losses and both men and women with medical problems who needed psychiatric treatment. I taught and supervised residents, fellows and medical students. In …2015 I left Montefiore to join Northwell Health where I worked as the Director of Psychiatry at LIJ Forest Hills Hospital and at Zucker Hillside Hospital perinatal program. Eventually, I transitioned to be the physician in charge of the Perinatal Program at Zucker Hillside Hospital in NY. There, I had the opportunity to treat hundreds of women with psychiatric problems during the perinatal period. I also continued to teach and supervise psychiatrists in training and medical students.
