Dr Arjun Gupta

Medical oncologist Arjun Gupta, M.D., F.A.S.C.O., works closely with patients at City of Hope® Cancer Center Phoenix who have been diagnosed with a wide range of gastrointestinal cancers, helping them find innovative treatment options for their disease and strategies to manage the side effects and symptoms of both cancer and its treatment.Dr. Gupta was drawn to City of Hope by its focus on offering breakthrough, patient-centered cancer care and its emphasis on supporting patients and caregivers together. His role involves working with each patient’s multidisciplinary care team to create a personalized treatment plan that takes into account his or her unique diagnosis and goals for treatment.Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Gupta maintains a strong research agenda, with a particular interest in both gastrointestinal cancer care and supportive care medicine. He has more than 140 peer-reviewed publications and has served as principal investigator on numerous clinical trials. His …research has received funding from national organizations including the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, the American Cancer Society and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Gupta also serves as vice-chair of the Symptom Intervention Committee for the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology.Before joining City of Hope, Dr. Gupta held clinical and teaching positions at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He earned his medical degree in his native India at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, completed an internal medicine residency — serving as chief resident — at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and finalized his training with medical oncology fellowship at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
