don 't have a follow up yet waiting for some nerve damage to resolve. He has me doing another EMG in 3 months.

HEAD STRONG AND VERY SURE OF HIS ABILITIES. JUST WHAT I LIKE.

For 19 years every doctor we saw told my husband he had to have his leg amputated above the knee. My husband endured excruciating pain all those years and then our local doctor sent us to Dr. Hanssen. He made my husband a new man. After three years we still can't get over how well my husband is. Dr. Hanssen was so good to us as well. I don't understand the reviews that said people didn't like him. He has always been personable to us. We were home and had a problem at 7:40a.m. on a Saturday, in 10 minutes the doctor was on the phone speaking with us.

After waiting four months to get in, I finally was going to the famous Mayo clinic to get my abductor muscles of my hip fixed. I had sent all my prior records, MRIs and x-rays and was told that the "head of orthopedic surgery, Dr. Arlen Hanssen " was taking on my case. The day came, I had appointments scheduled for the entire day, seeing Hanssen in the afternoon. After a blood test and x-rays,the rest of the testing was cancelled and a meeting with Hansen was rescheduled for 9:30 a.m. Talk about an arrogant and condescending man! He certainly is full of himself. He told me there was nothing that could be done for me...that my hip muscles were like pieces of over-cooked ravioli . My husband and I were stunned. It was a very quiet on the way home. I thought my life as I knew it was over. No one had the answer I needed. I went to a very good P T guy who got me in touch with Dr. Josef Davies who is located in Grafton, Wi. Long story, short, this Dr. gave me my life back. He is… great, personable , and willing to go the distance to get you on your feet again. He specializes in repairing abductor muscles of the hip. I had two muscles that were grade 4 tears. It was a rough surgery, and a long recovery, but almost 4 months after surgery now, I am almost pain free and my hip has never felt so right. So the moral of my story is : don't let any Dr. tell you there's no hope left. Keep trying , keep searching. Don't give up.

Dr. Hanssen gave me a new knee a few years ago. I'm afraid I wasn't an easy patient to get along with--expecting things to happen quickly and relatively painlessly. He warned me that it would take time, and he was right. But he was also right that I would be almost good as new, and back to my lifestyle, which includes dancing. So, I am forever grateful to have had a world class surgeon, in the top 1% in orthopedics in this country, operate on ME. If his bedside manner left a bit to be desired, well, so did mine. And if he seemed a little arrogant, the fact is, the man deserves to be!

I saw Dr. Hanssen on two different occasions for the same treatment (cortisone steroid injections) one for my hip and one for my knee. Neither one worked. His manner is almost insufferable; very condescending.

I cannot say enough good about Dr. Hanssen. He did a revision of a failed total hip surgery on me in 2001, and also a total knee surgery in 2012. I am so thankful for him. My life has been greatly improved because of him and his knowledge and expertise. He was very careful about my overall health. I highly recommend him and Mayo Clinic.

Extremely knowledgeable and intelligent, yet very patient in explaining medical lingo to layman like us. Very assuring to have Dr. Hansen on your case. It means you are going to win and come out much better than you came in. Simply cannot praise him and his A team enough, words fail to express how impressive and powerful this team is. Will definitely encourage all my friends and family to go to him, in a heart beat. Living legend. gifted, great and a go.
