Arlene Vlieger, APNP

I practiced as an RN for 14 years and received a Masters of Nursing in 2014. I have a background in Cardiology, Nephrology and Long-Term Care. I wanted to be a nurse since a very young age; I continue to love working with people, hearing their story and helping meet their health goals. I look forward to always learning more. Medicine is always changing and no two days are ever the same. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, sewing and many outdoor activities like hiking, biking, kayaking, and gardening. I grew up on a farm in south-central Iowa with 4 older brothers. I still enjoy traveling to the area to visit my parents. I have lived in Wisconsin since age 18 and consider it my home. One of my favorite areas to travel to is the UP of Michigan.My philosophy is personalized care. As a Hospitalist provider I may be meeting a patient for the first time or seeing a patient with chronic conditions requiring frequent hospitalizations. I want to work together with the patient and their support …system to answer questions for whatever level they are at in their healthcare journey. I believe providing resources for ongoing education about the condition(s) the patient is living with is key to helping patients participate fully with their healthcare team.
