Dr. Armand Sorin Schachter, MD

I've had 4 appointments with him. My first visit he spent all of 5 minutes with me. My 2nd appointment I saw one of his nps and she took her time and she prescribed my medication. The 3rd I saw him for less than two minutes. The 4th time I was made to see another np (made because he was gone) and she was nice but couldn't write my script. I had to take more time off and come up there again because he inconsiderate of his patient's time. If I make an appointment with a doctor, I expect to see a doctor not an NP and especially not one who can't write my prescription. I am looking elsewhere and recommend others to do so as well. He is the only psychiatrist I have ever known to make patients been seen each month for medications that they have been doing well on for years.

He has my mother on so many different kinds of medications it is ridiculous . Both uppers and downers and has completely messed her up someone report him to the Alabama medical board

Been Dr. Shatner’s patient for 10+ yrs - kind, pleasant, optimistic, highly qualified, w/tremendous patience considering the high # of clientele w/volatile diagnosis’s. Any negative comments are obviously skewed by those w/severe mental illness’s & should be dismissed invalid. He cares about his patients, highly logical, reasonable.

Dr. Schachter is an excellent doctor. He spent many hours of therapy with me (bipolar). He also prescribed medication. He detected some problems with my blood, so he altered the medication accordingly. He eventually eliminated one of my medications. Dr. Schachter, along with another doctor (hematologist Dr. Harvey), were finally able to resolve the problems I had with red blood count, white blood count, platelets. He is a no-nonsense therapist. He can be “tough” when my behaviors called for it, or sympathetic when the circumstances needed that type of response from him. I “swear by” his methods of treatment! He helped me turn my life around.

Go somewhere else.

I’ve been with Dr. Schachter for 9 years. I’ve moved 3 hours away and still travel to see him. I never wait more than 3 minutes in the waiting room and his staff is very friendly. Highly recommend!

He is a great doctor. He was spot on with my diagnosis and the medication I received from him worked. His staff are very nice, courteous, and interested in you. I Love the fact that you don't have to sit very long (maybe 10 minutes) before you see Dr. Schachter. He treats you with respect and is genuinely interested in you, your state of mind, your problems in life. I wouldn't trade him for a different Psychiatrist .

I have had nothing but problems from this office. They are uncaring of psychiatric patient needs.

This is the worst Dr. I have ever seen. Messed up all my paperwork. Sent wrong prescriptions. Customer service by office staff is unacceptable.

I was hospitalized at Brookwood for severe depression and was assigned this guy. He would have staff wake his patients up extremely early and spend about 1-2 minutes, at most. It's outrageous that patients are allowed to be woken up so early (often before 6AM) and that a psychiatrist can spend so little time evaluating them.
