Dr. Arnold Fred Nothnagel, DO

I have been more than pleased that I was referred to Dr. Nothnagel with my retina issue. He was very thorough in explaining what was going on, the steps to correct it and the healing process. He found another issue while treating the retina and has been monitoring that as well. At my last check up even Dr. Nothnagel was surprised how well my vision is. I am beyond happy as you only have one pair of eyes!

Efficient office. Nice staff. Knowledgeble and caring Dr. He explained everything well. Throughout visit I felt well taken of. Stressful situations are cared for in timely manner. I received great care. He let me know expectations going forward as well.

I wish I could give Dr. Nothnagel zero stars. I work in the medical field at a top hospital, and my partner saw Dr. Nothnagel for a retinal tear. From the very beginning, the experience was alarming. He was repeatedly interrupted during her exam by staff telling him other patients were ready, and he kept leaving the room mid-exam. He did not wear gloves, wash his hands, or use hand sanitizer at any point. She even had to hold a clipboard on her chest for him to draw on during her evaluation. She required laser treatment. At the initial visit he said he couldn’t complete it all at once, yet when she returned for the laser, he did all of it in one visit with no discharge instructions. Soon after, she developed new floaters and went back immediately. She was told her retina looked “perfect, won’t come apart” that she had a vitreous hemorrhage and detachment, and to simply go home. No precautions or concerns. Three days later, she abruptly lost vision in that eye. We went to another… office for an urgent evaluation, where she was found to have both a macula and retina detachment requiring emergency surgery. Dr. Nothnagel was dismissive, distracted, rushed, and overall careless. This was the worst clinical encounter I’ve witnessed in my entire career. Please do not see him. Your eye health deserves better.

Dr. Nothnagel repaired a tear in my retina yesterday. The procedure went very smoothly. The nurses/techs were also very knowledgeable and could answer all my questions. I would recommend this group.
