Dr. Aroosa Alam, MD

As a Hospital doctor, Dr. Alam does not communicate well with patients regarding what their medical issue(s) is(are) and what is being done to treat it(them). She discharges patients who are not in a good enough condition to be discharged. The medical staff disagreed with this doctor(?) that a patient was well enough to be discharged from the hospital but they lost their case. When they expressed their concern, the doctor never came back to evaluate the patient regarding their concerns.

After 12 hours in the Emergency room with labs, exams, and MRI, my my mother was admitted to Baystate Medical Center for a 10 day course of treatment. Within eleven and a half hours after admission, I was very surprised to receive a call that the hospitalist, Aroosa Alam discharged my elderly mother (who lives alone) and to come pick her up. She was discharged with a critical blood sugar level in the 400 range and without discharge plans for her out of control diabetes nor her admitting diagnosis. Aroosa Alam said she discontinued my mother's treatments because her presenting symptoms "have been resolved". In reality, my mother reported some improvement, not resolution of her symptoms. Nor was the underlying cause of the symptoms resolved. I asked Aroosa Alam to please resume my mother's 9 more days of treatments that the admitting physician ordered, but she withheld treatment while my mother stayed in the hospital another 2 days and I disputed the discharge. I would give her a… negative rating if there was one provided. One star is way too good for her.

treated my mother at the hospital, does not read charts, just discharges patients with out a review or discussion with care giver. my mother ended up back in the hospital in less than a week for the same thing because this dr did not read charts or treat her properly. there is no appropriate rating for this dr as there is not a negative way to rate
