Dr. Arshad Sami, MD

Rude, inefficient yet rushed, made us feel like numbers not people. Lied in mychart about our discussions and time spent with us. We tried multiple times to get a different hospitalist to no avail. Advice is to work with patient advocate group to avoid this doctor at all costs. Will never recommend Albany med ever again because of the terrible ‘care’ he provided.

While I appreciate that he was very attentive with pain control and antibiotics while I was inpatient, this doctor was very gruff and impersonal to the point of rude. He didn’t speak to me but at me and got annoyed if I asked him to repeat anything. I was inpatient for a severe throat infection that was so severe I could not even swallow water or my own saliva without extreme pain- and while he did get the pain somewhat better under control, I was still struggling with a clear liquids diet when he pushed for me to be discharged. When I and my nurse expressed that we both thought maybe another days stay would be beneficial, as in a week all I had been able to eat was one singular bowl of puréed chicken soup and literally nothing else, he steamrolled and said if I didn’t agree I would have to appeal, and honestly I did not have the energy to fight on it. He also did not send the script for one of the medications that I needed and while on the discharge note it said to use a printed… script at any pharmacy, there was no prescription for that medication in the discharge notes. Bluntly, honestly, I felt bullied and I didn’t feel heard or cared about as a patient.

Doctor Sami was very rude to my elderly grandmother and my whole family. He doesn’t care about his patients at all.
