Dr. Artashes Avakian was born and raised in the city of Yerevan the capital of Armenia.  He attended Chekhov/#55 High School and it was there he decided to pursue a career in dentistry.  After graduation, Dr. Avakian attended The Yerevan State Medical University and this is where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.  After graduating in 1986 Dr. Avakian practiced dentistry at the Artashat Regional Dental Clinic (ARDC) in the Rep. Of Armenia, former USSR and in July of 1987 held the position as Chief of Prosthodontic Department. In 1991 Dr. Avakian practiced dentistry at the Institute of Social Hygiene and Occupational Disease and in 1992 he participated in the research for the impact of lead on the oral/general health. In 1993, Dr. Avakian moved to Fresno, Ca. (USA).  In 1995, Artashes Avakian successfully passed the National and State dental board exams.  In 1996, Dr. Artashes Avakian established …a private practice in Fresno, Ca. In  June of 2004 moved his practice to state of art, newly built, high-tech facility in NE Fresno.  Dr. Avakian is committed to continuing his education and high standard of dental care.
Dr. Avakian is as devoted to his family as he is to dentistry.  Passionate to his wife of 21 years, Marina who is a practicing physician assistant and children Norik at UC DAVIS and Monica who is currently attending Clovis West High School, in Fresno.  Dr. Avakian cares for his both parents Norayr and Klara Avakian.  His sister, Margarita Oganesian RDA, assists Dr. Avakian in his practice. She has assisted him since his start of practice in 1996.  He enjoys an active happy, healthy lifestyle and active in his community.  The Avakian family enjoys a wide variety of activities including dancing, fishing, hunting, hiking, photography, travel, music, art and the theatre.
Dr. Avakian is committed to thoroughly educating his patients in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and habits and its effects on their Oral Health.  Dr. Avakian believes that keeping his patient up to date with Dental Health Research and Dental Technology will guide his patients to maintain good oral health and to make wise decisions regarding their oral health and dental treatment.   Dr. Avakian has completed numerous courses and continued education in the area of cosmetic reconstruction and is excited in helping patients achieve beautiful healthy smiles.  
He is currently continuing his education by participating in the Fresno Gnathologic project and UCLA Aesthetic Continuum along with other courses provided by the professional affiliations of which he is a member.
