Dr. Arthur Allan Efros, MD

I am not the patient, my mother was. She is 90 years old and was in the hospital with a very bad case of pneumonia. She has been going to Dr. Arthur Efros, bi-monthly for blood work and check-ups, as she’s still having some issues with water retention and taking medication for it that needs to be monitored. Last week, the day before she was to see Dr. Efros, she received a phone call from his office, telling her that her appointment was cancelled, and she will no longer be Dr. Efros patient, as his office no longer accepts her insurance. She was stunned and upset and even offered to pay the difference from her Medicare payment to see him. They refused to allow that. She has no idea what her blood test results are, and is franticly looking for a new doctor. Mind, she’s been seeing Dr. Efros for many years--he was always kind to her and she felt very comfortable with him. Is this even behavior even legal?

This is not the office for elderly patients. The office staff, especially the front desk, is not helpful, compassionate nor understanding of senior citizens and the struggles that follow, especially with patients with diminished mental capacity. The office staff reflects 100% on the doctor for he allows this behavior. I attempted multiple times to discuss my concerns with the office manager, Toni, however she/he is always out of the office, can never accept my calls and has never returned my messages. UNACCEPTABLE!

Still doesn't call back with test results and takes weeks if ever to obtain them - & to get message to dr. it's hit or miss
