Dr. Arthur R Ersner, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Ersner's during the 1980s and early 90s. I have read his reviews and a saddened that he has not learned anything in all these years about how to treat a patient. I had gone to him many times with different complaints, one being dizziness, another being having no control over my feet. He told me I was a hypochondriac and to try and deal with it. I was so very upset that I finally left his practice and found a wonderful DO rather than an MD. Shortly after that she sent me to a world-renowned MS specialist who diagnosed me with Primary Progressive MS. I am sure that had he investigated a little further he may have come to that conclusion, but it most likely would not have changed anything, other than I most likely would not have been given the medication needed for my symptoms. It hurts me that for many years I truly believed I was a hypochondriac and for that I cannot forgive him.

I had been his patient for 20 years when I started seeing him for unexplained weakness. I came in numerous times over several months, the last with a detailed list of my specific symptoms. He demanded I turn the list face down - I was not permitted to refer to it!He told me I needed to see a psychiatrist for depression, or else get a colonoscopy.When I sought another doctor's advice, I was immediately sent for an M.R.I. which revealed that a disc was pressing directly against my spinal cord! A visit with a neurosurgeon was promptly arranged and I had a fusion shortly after. Unfortunately, permanent damage had been done and I am still a cripple.

After reading the comment from Anonymous But Sincere, I see that Dr. Ersner hasn't changed since 1998, when I went to him. I had a very bad cold and a fever, and he told me to go home and take Tylenol. During the next week I kept getting worse, so I went back to him, and he finally sent me to have a chest x-ray, and it turned out I had Pneumonia. And when I told him I needed something for my cough, and that I could not swallow pills, he ordered a huge pill that could not be cut or crushed, for my cough. And when I called the office and asked him to prescribe a liquid, he wouldn't - just told his receptionist to tell me to take an over-the-counter medicine. A month later, I had another chest x-ray, to make sure the Pneumonia was gone, and when I went back to him to get the results of that x-ray, he didn't even know what lung the Pneumonia had been in. And another time, he wanted me to have a test done at the hospital where I would have had to be injected with Iodine, even though I told… him I was allergic to Iodine. And he got very angry when I refused to have the test.And another time, I asked the receptionist if I could use the phone in the office to call for a cab, and I basically had to beg to use it, even though it was a local call.How Dr. Ersner has been able to stay in Practice for so many years is more than I will ever understand, because he is the worst - the very worst doctor, I have ever known.

Dr. Ersner is the worst Doctor that I have ever met. Just so you know if you have an issue that he is unable to find in time he won't even send you to a specialist for a second look. He will give up and not fight for you. His bedside manner and treatment of family is terrible and if you are in the hospital when he is on vacation do not expect to be taken care of properly. I implore everyone to stay away from this ancient 3 star doctor and choose a physician that is caring, intuitive and looking toward future medicine.
