Through his clinical work he helped establishing the Neuroscience ICU at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital and NeuroICU stepdown unit at Henry Ford Downtown campus. Dr. Abdelhak main work is at the Neuroscience ICU where he takes care of patients with catastrophic brain and spinal cord injury. He treats a variety of neurological illness like stroke, brain bleed, seizures, brain infections and traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. During his work he helped bringing new treatment to Henry Ford for anticoagulation related brain bleeding (hemorrhage).

Dr. Abdelhak serves currently as the NeuroCritical Care Fellowship program director where he supervises the training of residents and fellows in NeuroCritical Care. He helped develop the first Henry Ford NeuroCritical Care Manual.
Dr. Abdelhak serves on the Credentials committee at Henry Ford Medical group and is a graduate of the Henry Ford Leadership Academy. He is also known nationally through the American NeuroCritical Care Society where he serves on the Advocacy and fellowship committees.
