Dr. Arthur Lowy, MD

He's a moron. Shows up unprepared and makes you wait 3 hours to get a colonoscopy procedure done. Stay away.

Unfortunately my husband and I had a real bad experience with Dr. Lowy - both of us made our initial appointment based on getting our colonoscopies at a Catholic Health Hospital. Dr. Lowy is under our plan and that is the reason why we chose him. We would be covered 100% by our medical coverage only if we had the procedure done at the CHS hospital. When we called we called we confirmed this and we when we went for our first visit to his office in Syosset we confirmed this with both Theresa and Dr. Lowy himself. They scheduled both of us for a colonoscopy on the same day 2 months after our visit. My husband and I both took 2 days off work. When the day before we had to take our preparation medication for the procedure came I didn't hear from the office- it was 1:30 so I called them. When I confirmed that the procedure was still on Theresa confirmed us at Plainview hospital instead of the planned St. Joseph's hospital. She argued with me that they never planned to do the procedure… for us at St. Joseph's hospital, I told her that all our paperwork said St. Joseph's hospital and before we hung up she said she would try and get us in, and she said she would call me back. I did hear back from her - it was 4:30 and I called the office and it was closed. I got Dr. Lowy on his cell phone and he said he was doing rounds and would call me back. He never called me back and a half hour later Theresa called me back still trying to get us to do the procedure at Plainview hospital. I feel that they were not going to call me to confirm until we had actually started the preparation medication so that we would have had to agree to go and do the procedure at Plainview Hospital. We would have had to pay $700 out of pocket for each of us. How unprofessional and rude that this Dr. and his staff are ! We had to both put in for 2 days to take off work as well and they were totally inconsiderate to us ! They are not honest and I would not recommend them to anyone !

A few years back, I went to the Syosset Hospital ER on day 4 of having extreme abdominal pain. After the hospital staff ran a bunch of tests, I met with Dr. Lowy at 8:30 PM who talked with me and reviewed all of the results. He figured out exactly what was wrong and determined that I did not have to be admitted overnight. I was cured in a few days. He made such a good impression, the whole ER did, that I made him my primary care doctor since. He seems to really know what he's doing, cares about his patients, and doesn't have a condescending attitude. Me: 40 yr old IT pro.

I went in for a colonoscopy that was for 2:30 and waited over an hour to be seen. This test is hard enough not being able to eat for a day and a half and to be kept waiting longer. Please have some consideration for your patients!!!! We are starving!!!!

Dr. Lowy took all the time needed to cover a long and complicated medical past. He was able to pinpoint areas that needed attention,While assessing the whole situation. He was warm, non judgmental and caring. I feel lucky to have found this type of practitioner, and I feel confident of his opinions.

Dr. Lowy is one of the most caring and thorough physicians I have ever met.

Dr. Lowy is an amazing doctor. I would recommend him to all my friends.
