Dr. Arthur Morris Matthews

Matthews is a jerk. His care about patients is misleading . If you seek a second opinion outside of his referral to Tulane in New Orleans for Prostate Cancer- he will drop you as a patient like a hot potato. We went to M.D. Anderson because of my husbands issues that seem to continue after his Robotic Surgery three years ago. After the horrific experiences we encounter through doctors at Tulane ( of which Dr Matthews recommended) and after seeking a second opinion on our own through M.D. Anderson- DR Matthews would not see my husband again. Stating that he did not like M.D. Anderson and refused to work with them. I could say more- but we will just leave it here. This Doctor is not one that I would ever recommend to anyone.

The absolute worst of the worst. Had an experience with this man almost 20 years ago and I can see from the reviews that nothing has changed. When his treatment failed to provide any relief I requested my records to go to another doctor and he refused to give me a copy (after repeated requests on multiple occasions in writing and in person). I was so enraged I reached over the counter and took them out of the clerks hand and left the office (for which I was promptly arrested). There was a hand written note telling his staff not to give me the records. This arrogant POS was promptly arrested for income tax evasion a few months later for failure to report approximately $900,000 in income (justice) with his fat face on the front page of the Sun Herald, once again justice. Wouldn't let this subhuman work on a dog. Do a little homework before letting these doctors do any work, I didn't have the benefit of the internet ratings 20 years ago. Read his reviews and you'll see similar reviews… like mine.

My kidney wasn't functioning. He couldn't tell me why. He put a stent in. It fell out. He told me to go home and pull it out. I have gone to a new doctor. I know why my kidney wasn't functioning. I also know that I should have been in the ER long before the stent came out. He knew I was bleeding. He knew I was incontinent.

No beating around the bush... highly satisfied.

This Dr does not want to listen to what the patient has to say. He does not want the patient to ask questions. He believes he knows more than the pharmaceutical company that manufactures the drugs. (drug side effects) I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

I was referred to this physician by biloxi regional ED department. I had never had any contact with this physician prior to meeting him at my first appointment. While his staff was exceptionally friendly and courteous the same can bot be said about the provider himself. He spent exactly 90 seconds examing me and the 10 minutes in his private office trying to explain to me that the blood in my urine, the shap pain in my left and right flank were not caused by the 7mm, 5mm and several other stones in my kidneys but rather by my back. While I do have a preexisting medical condition concerning my back the pain I have been experiencing is much much worse and it is sharp in nature while the back pain that I've had for several years is a dull achy pain and is currently under control by my primary care provider. The next day he performed a scope type of surgery to see where the bleeding was coming from. After the surgery he was no where to be found however my grandmother told me that he said… everything was " A ok". A day after the surgery the bleeding stopped but the bleeding continued the very next day after that along with the severe sharp pain in my flank. When I called him over the weekend to discuss my concern with him he very arrogantly stated " well Mr. Garcia your not going to bleed to dealth so just make an appointment with my offive tomorrow. He also stated that he didnt think it was necessary for me to go to the ED. I ignored his ridiculous advise and went to the ED because I was in so much pain. The physician in the ED told me that I was still bleeding very heavily and that he cant understand why my urologist hadn't put in a stent or done a lipo to blast those larger stones which in his opinion is what is causing the bleeding and the severe pain. I would also like to mention that Dr. Matthews never once addressed my nausea or pain. He didn't treat me with any prescriptions because like I said he assumed all the pain I was experiencing was from my back. I would not recommend this physician to any of my friends or family. I am amazed tgat with his 38 years of experience he has such a poor bedside manner. I will also be lodging a complaint with JACHO this week as well as writing a strong worded letter about my experience to the AUA. It's such a shame that physicians treat patients like this in todays modern age. I hope this helps anyone who is lookinhg for insight on Dr. Matthews before scheduling an appointment.

I have the worst expereince with this Dr that i have every had with a Dr. his answers are I dont know, its not that causing the pain but he does not check to see way you having the pain. and he does not discuss anything with you. stay away from him if all means.
